Oberto + Bowen + Mason for RJ works well contract wise.
This would be great. Hopefully VC goes to the Blazers and Jefferson comes to San Antonio. I still wonder if there is any truth/chance to this....
Oberto + Bowen + Mason for RJ works well contract wise.
I've had enough of the trade deadline roller-coaster.
We can get away without putting Mason in there..I don't want to lose Mason if we don't have to..him or Hill...
no do not give up Mason. You can get RJ without Mason and Hill, cmon FO, do it!
The San Antonio Spurs’ delay to release any specific information about Manu Ginobili’s right ankle injury has led some opposing GMs to speculate that the injury could be serious. Delaying the announcement until after the Thursday trade deadline would help keep the Spurs from losing any leverage in their ongoing talks.
Spurs officials announced only that Ginobili won’t join them on their road trip and their medical staff continues to study test results on Ginobili’s ankle.
In addition to pursuing Sacramento King’s swingman John Salmons and the New Jersey Nets’ Vince Carter, the Spurs expressed interest in Milwaukee Bucks forward Richard Jefferson while acknowledging there’s little chance of landing Jefferson.
Bruce Bowen has offered in nearly every trade discussion because he’s guaranteed only $2 million next season. Center Fabricio Oberto also has a partial guarantee of $1.9 million next season.
The Spurs didn’t announce Ginobili wasn’t accompanying them on their trip until Monday when they were already in New York. Though Ginobili scored 32 points in a loss to the Toronto Raptors, the Spurs’ final game before the All-Star break, team officials say he had been experiencing pain in his right ankle for a while.
The Milwaukee Bucks have told teams their closer to moving Richard Jefferson to the Portland Trail Blazers for a package that includes Travis Outlaw and Raef LaFrentz, one Eastern Conference executive said.

Aaargh; you want to send the best perimeter defender and a clutch shooter ????
No, no, no , nooooooooooooooo
Bad sign with respect to Ginobili. It could very well be that his ankle situation is more serious than we know.
As for the possible Jefferson signing, I like it. Even more so than the possible Vince Carter signing. Problem is RJ's contract is just as expensive. Here's the breakdown:
2008
$13,200,000
2009
$14,200,000
2010
$15,000,000
That tells me that if the Spurs do this, then I'm convinced Manu's time and playing days here could be numbered. There's no way the Spurs can pay double-digit millions to four players.
jesus, thx for the deadline. if this goes on for some more days people would start to claim that the only acceptable deal for an all star player is a package of Ime, JV and the draft rights for Karaulov.
In this scenario, Bowen will likely be waived and come back 30 days later.
Given that Oberto doesn't play, it is basically Mason for RJ.
Since the Bucks are in the giving mood, tell them that we'll take Luc Mbah a Moute too.![]()
Ah yes, you're right about Bowen.
But Mason is a clutch MOFO
I would rather keep Mason
Tough decision, but I might do it, because of Jefferson's ability to slash to the basket.
F*** it let's just wait for Sheed in the offseason![]()
But does this really make us a lot better?
I think that's where we're headed. No deadline deal, Spurs have to make do with what they've got this year. Then make a run at sheed this offseason.
I actually hope the Blazers deal happens. That takes them out of the running for VC.
I doubt NJ trades Carter to Cleveland; it doesn't help them one iota assist LeBron in winning championships in Cleveland. The T-Mac injury makes Houston a wild card, but I'm inclined to think it hurts their chances of landing Carter. That brings this down to Dallas and San Antonio. I hope San Antonio bites the bullet and makes it happen.
OK seriously...let's just forget about the trade deadline this year, bring up Pops, and wait for Sheed next year..period.
RJ is worse than VC and makes nearly as much.
But get what you can, I guess.
Still, I'd rather them hold on to what they have then desperately blow things up like the Mavs did last year in some quixotic fever dream that this is the move that will win them the le.
If it's not going to happen this year, it's not going to happen. No need to mortgage the future on player who make more than TP and Manu.
i agree and we might and there is a possibility to win a championship this year with the people we have you never know, ill wait for sheed
it's funny that the same people that don't want Vince for Mason or Hill, want RJ for the same deal..RJ is worse than Vince in every aspect of basketball..EVERY aspect..
regardless, I'd take him on our team..
whoever we make a run at will depend on Portland..
41% is somewhat ok???????? What is Bonner then, pretty decent?![]()
Jefferson playing good D is a huge misconception..he hasn't played D in 3 years..so if we call Vince out for that, you have to call RJ out as well..
if it's between them, it's Vince easily..I don't think we'll get either though..
Richard would be a great pickup. If he went back to playing like his early years, it will be the best deal of the deadline.
