A buddy and I were debating a couple weeks ago on who would win in a fight between KG and Dirk. Homer glasses off, I think Dirk beats the dog out of KG. I think there's a homicidal side to him that people don't see and, when uncorked, he'd rip out your spine and devour it whole.
That, and KG is a pussy on Melo-like levels.
Neither of them are fighters so who would throw the first punch?
Dirk is not soft at all. He was a little bit at the start of his career, but not anymore. People call him soft because he isn't a defensive stalwart and due to his peculiar shot-selection for a 7fter, but that's non-sense.
Mavs fans love to commend Dirk on showing "control" when he got punked by David West....but that. Dirk didn't have to punch him, but you don't just stand there and take it.
Dirk could have removed his hand from his face and shoved him, called him a , whatever else, and the worst that would have happened was a double-T on both West and Dirk.
Dirk letting West do that was absolutely something only a pussy would let happen. He could have exercised control in not punching him, while at the same time send a message that some got like David West can't pull moves like that.
Carmelo would throw the first and then back out.
It's a trick question.

That incident is entirely irrelevant anyway. Dirk's response to that got dirty punk known as David West has no bearing on the outcome of the series. To send a message, or not send a message, is irrelevant. That incident showed more about David West's lack of class and background than it did anything about Dirk's personality.
Bull . The message sent by Dirk not responding to West is the message the Mavericks have sent to every team in the league since June of 2006 - hit the Mavs in the face and they won't fight back, instead they'll bend over and invite you to their asshole.
Dirk didn't fold in the series though, 26.8/12 or something like that. Although he did mentally check out after game 4, oh well. But anyway, Dirk's lack of response had nothing to do with J-Blunt shooting 27% from the mutha in field, that's the main reason our boys in blue fell short.
I get what you're saying completely. , I'm a little short tempered so in my opinion your right, but for him there would be consequences for his actions. Had he hit him he would have been kicked out of the game and probably picked up a 1 game suspension. Had he known they we're going to lose, by all means headbutt David West in his stupid ass face, but I think Dirk was thinking about his team. My question is where were his punk ass bench warming teammates to defend him in that situation? He needed to show restraint but they sure as did not!!
Justice was served when Horry ed D West's back up. When you lay your filthy scrub fingers on the best PF in the game, you deserve whatever pain comes your way.
Durant is something else.
