Flopping is gamesmanship and is just one of the strategies a player can employ. If it works, his team benefits but it can also backfire and hurt his team. Refs get paid to decide whether its a legitimate move or a flop. Its just part of the game. Some players just have a knack for gamesmanship/flopping.

    Because Barry failed his physical.
I thought it was because Hawks GM Billy Knight had his cell phone off (funeral) and couldn't confirm the trade in time before the deadline passed. I don't ever remember the J.R. Smith deal falling through because of a failed physical.

You are correct. It was because Billy Knight did not want to do the trade and turned his cell off.

As I recall, the Spurs and Hornets were looking for a third team with enough salary cap room to facilitate the deal and one of the reports said that once they finally got something arranged, it was 5 minutes too late. Pop had already told Barry to stay home from the trip to Memphis and then the Spurs called Brent to let him know the deal didn't happen.

Give me JR anyday over RJ, purely for he fact he makes much less money and comes off the bench.

I still think Pop needs to figure out how to bring RJ off the bench and let Manu start, or has he already tried that?

I know $15mil is alot for a bench player, but in the end it is about winning and not pride.
Moneywise I would tend to agree but concerning BB IQ there isn't even a comparison. JR was personally responsible for some of your losses to the Spurs in the '05 playoff series. He IMHO hasn't improved much since then. His game is O and he is very good at times but inconsistent. Tremendous talent but lacking between the ears.

Personally I would lkie to see Mason start in place of RJ and keep Manu in the 2nd unit. With Manu's unselfish at ude he could get RJ going with his passing since that seems to be the problem with RJ. He needs a pass first type of player to set him up either in the open court or slashing to the rim. And Mason is coming on lately and his handle has improved dramatically from last season as well as his ability to attack the rim.

And you're right about winning. That's why the FO went after RJ because they felt that they needed to take advantage of TD's last few years. So screw the $$ and get the right rotation in place to contend for a ring.
