Doesn't matter...the Spurs stopped the Lakers from a 4peat. That is a dethroning...Laker Fan has no ground to pull up series records and talk after that.
99 was obvious. 95 was the other one I was thinking of. It's been awhile and I'm too tired to try to analyze it but I thought the 95 series wasn't as close as the 4-2 record. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
Doesn't matter...the Spurs stopped the Lakers from a 4peat. That is a dethroning...Laker Fan has no ground to pull up series records and talk after that.
Well, the Bulls have a much better win % vs the Lakers than the C's do vs the Lakers, therefore the C's are below the Bulls.
And yeah, congrats to the Spurs on beating the Lakers back in 2003. Although that was 6 years ago, so it doesn't matter to you anymore , according to you.
'03 was a great and satisfying series for me and all Spurs fans, I would think. But it's becoming ancient history and the Lakers have done some damage to the Spurs since.
That's because losing in the finals to a team is much worse than merely losing in the playoffs.
Doing it 9 times is sickening....and a disgrace.
status is relevant over more than a 5 year time frame.
While there is a statute of limitation on talking about championships...usually 1 year, there is none on status and since that dethroning prevented the Spurs from status...it's relevant, even though the le they won is not eligible for championship talking in the current context.
I think a rival is a team that is a threat, so I would choose the Lakers.
teams like the Suns are no longer even a consideration.

If this is what you believe, the Lakers are 2-0 vs the Spurs when it matters then. Mavs also own the Spurs at 1-0.
The Lakers always stand in the way of les for the Spurs. They are the ones that most often knock the spurs out.
To be honest, I never even considered the Suns a threat. That what little regard I have for them. The only teams in the past 10 years I worried about were the Lakers every time they faced each other, Detroit in '05 and New Orleans last year.
It's a toss-up between the Lakers and Mavericks.
Furthermore...that dethroning definitely qualifies us Laker Rivals for all time...and not merely wannabes as the Suns are to the Spurs.
Sorry Spur fans but the Lakers own you guys plain and simple. Its not a rivalry to them
Neither of those ended a 4 peat attempt which would have been the second greatest championship run in history....and yes ya''ll would have won the le that year had we not stopped you.
That is what you call an "ouch".
Merely beating team in a repeat attempt has been done frequently and really has no talking viability beyond a year.
So basically LakerFan can talk for last year...and that's about it.
Mavfan cannot...not only was that 2 years ago, but they choked in the finals and then were humilated in the first round the following year.
Stats don't lie, brah. C's own the Lakers. Lakers own the Spurs. Rockets own the Spurs.
Lakers did stop a Spurs 3 peat(Possibly) and the Mavs stopped a Spurs 3-peat. Imagine the Spurs beat the Lakers and Mavs? That's a potential 5 peat![]()
Don't even bother to justify anything. Lakers have owned the spurs in the playoffs. Nothing more to say on it. Their playoff record against the spurs speaks for itself.
Summing it up...only 3 teams have the right to talk to the Spurs at this current time and not be considered jokes for attempting it.
Lakers for last years win.
Rockets for their 2-0 all time playoff record against us.
Celtics for their 1-0 all time playoff record against us(plus they can pretty much talk to anyone since their team has the NBA record for championshipws).
Sun, Mav and Jazz fan can talk no .
Fail...because you are rascal. And that speaks for itself.
You lost. Your response speaks for itself.
I'm not a LakerFan masquerading as a SpurFan...unlike some.
At no point were the Spurs ever going for a 3 peat to be stopped by the Mavs or Lakers though...they were merely going for a repeat. Those don't grant permanent talking privliges...I mean if that's the case then Hornet Fan can talk to the Bulls...
Get serious.
Lakers stopped a 3-peat![]()
Bob Lanier is the only one with a brain in this thread.
Back in the mid nineties it was the Rockets, but now it's the Lakers and Mavs.
