LA let's go of Ariza..
What about offering him the full MLE
Would Mcdyess take the LLE to play for a ring or two?
Resign Gooden to the vet. minimum..
Parker/Hill
Manu/Mason
Jefferson/Ariza
Duncan/Gooden
Mcdeyss/Ian

Epic Fail, my man
Let's say Ariza accepts MLE money from us by some miracle.
I think McD has plenty of suitors willing to give him the bulk if not all the MLE.
Plus, what are we gonna offer Gooden?
Ok, forget Gooden then? Yeah, we'd be SMALL! Athletic as , but small as funk!
Remember, Ian doesn't count, he might not get off the bench at all, we don't know. But we DO know he's a rookie too, so, he's got that working against him too with Pop.
While you're at it maybe we can get ariza and sheed to agree to split the MLE money!
Why? We have Jefferson.
Not when other contenders are offering him a lot more money.Would Mcdyess take the LLE to play for a ring or two?
I'm guessing Gooden doesn't like that idea too much.Resign Gooden to the vet. minimum..
Or we can offer the corpses of bonner udoka finley for dwight howard. Get it done RC
mcdyess is the type of player the spurs wants. i see him coming to the spurs cuz he wants to win.
I don't know what's more ridiculous. The idea of giving our entire MLE to someone to be a backup SF, or the idea that Ariza would sign somewhere to be a backup.
I'd love Ariza on the Spurs, but its a pippe dream. We'd have to somehow get rid of Mason or Finley. A sign and trade for Mason would be pretty sick but it aint happening.
According to the article, Ariza is looking for more than the full MLE.
Yeah, it seems the MLE offer to Ariza from the Lakers insulted him. He wants something like $8 million last I read.
Verbal Commitment with Houston

So, will Ariza replace Yao at the Center position?![]()
Over/Under of ten minutes before someone starts the separate thread?
Over.
I guess he doesn't care about winning, because Houston isn't winning this year.![]()
Why would he care? Its not like he's an old vet hungry for a ring...he's 24 and just won one. What he wants is to get paid.
Although honestly it makes absolutely no sense that he supposedly rejected LA's MLE and accepted Houston's. Either the Lakers offered him less than the MLE or his agent was simply bluffing at first, LA said ' you than' and went after Artest...and now Ariza has to settle for Houston. Houston has Battier and Ariza now, two great perimeter defenders. If the Spurs cant get Bruce back I think they should ship Mason+Bonner and try to get one of those two players.
I've got to wonder what Houston's plan is...Originally Posted by objective

Does Ariza's acquisition, and the fact that he's only turning 24, make Battier available?
I mean, are they looking to clear cap room for next year and since they get a guy like Ariza, they can afford to let Battier go for some expiring contracts?
Haven't put too much thought into it, but you'd think they're not expecting to compete this year with Tracy coming back from microfracture and the outlook for Yao, but having some of the young pieces they do have now?
Maybe looking to land a Bosh in '10 is their best plan moving forward?
It's definitely some wishful thinking on my part, but Battier was born to be a Spur...
