The elbow is arguable because it does appear that Kobe did lose balance. But, the knee is not. Slow motion, real time, whatever. The knee was a message. Subtle enough not to get a tech, but pretty obvious it wasn't accidental. Plus Battier doesn't about like that. Kobe was dirty on that play. Period.

I'll justify it. Dont just look at the elbow and knee. Look at the overall picture. Kobe is on top of Shane. Kobe needs to use his knee to stand up. He did, but it hits Shane in the face by accident. Then you see Kobe try to stand up using that same knee. Shane then starts to rise up with Kobe still on him. Kobe falls forward and his elbow lands on Shanes head. Look at the whole altercation. Its obvious there was a loss of balance in Kobe's part when Shane pushed off the ground.
