Matt Bonner: 20mpg, 21% FG, 23% 3PT, 3 PTS, 3.2 REB, 0 AST, .6 STL, .4 BLK, +3.2 EFF
Luis Scola: 31mpg, 50% FG, 14 PTS, 7.8 REB, 1.6 AST, .6 STL. .3 BLK, +15.6 EFF
Regional interest has nothing to do with this, most of the fans that about the Scola thread aren't even southamericans, you don't see us about the Spurs not signing Monteccia and you wouldn't have seen us about the Spurs not getting Oberto. The only reason you see people ing about the Scola thread is 'cause he is GOOD and he would have made the Spurs a better team.

Losing Tmac is a plus. Losing Yao isn't really a plus....more like an inevitability, and you'd have to be stupid to think otherwise.
And without a doubt these were factors taken into consideration when granting Scola his request to not play for the Spurs.
So you are saying the Spurs knew that T-Mac would hurt the team while playing, and that Yao would be hurt and therefor the Rockets would not have enough to win, so they could trade them Scola?
Then they must also get the blame for knowing many of the guys they drafted overseas would take the easy paycheck and avoid careers in the NBA, no?
You still did not answer the question: If the Spurs FO and the Rockets FO knew that Yao would get hurt and that losing T-Mac would help, is it a choke job if the Rockets do not beat the Lakers?
Spurs were defending champions when they signed him...and became the Mavs after doing so.
The Finley signing was a negative that the Spurs overcame to an extent partially due to greatness and partially due to luck.
But as you can see by the Mavs fate when they aren't playing us...it's not that they are great, it's that we are their ...and we became so after signing theirs.
There is your negative karma...signing that asshole who had nothing but revenge and ing his old team while they paid him 15 mil per season on his mind. We haven't been the same team since.
I don't really think it makes a differences...I think if you took Bonner of this team and replaced him with Scola, there wouldn't be much difference in our fate, last season or this.Look at the numbers between Scola and Bonner and see who has had a better playoffs. It is not abstract and there is no wait and see. The numbers are there.
If Scola indeed is having a better playoffs than Bonner, and they make the same money, wouldn't you rather have him, even though the Spurs might not win a le with either?
I think the A#1 thing the Spurs could do to improve is can Finley and Thomas. I think doing that would do more to improve our team that anything to do with Bonner and or Scola.
Discussion: Montecchia.
Talking about: Scola.
Main poster: whatt.
NSSN. Nihil sub sole novi.
Translation:
nothing new under the sun.
Spurs are 2-2 against the Mavs in recent playoff history and the Mavs still have no les, while Finley helped add to the Spurs trophy case. I would not exactly call the Spurs their es.
I agree it would not change the outcome (meaning the Spurs would not win a le this year), but all things being equal, if the two players are making the same amount of money, wouldn't you want the better player and the one that shows up in the playoffs? Especially going forward.I don't really think it makes a differences...I think if you took Bonner of this team and replaced him with Scola, there wouldn't be much difference in our fate, last season or this.

I'll let whottt stay rolling. I've repeatedly said over the years that RC's emails made Scola mad and started what ended up with Scola's handlers comparing Scola to a slave. I'm not sure how whottt can now think this is a revelation. I guess it's just desperation from seeing a team lead by Scola and a team that gives Brent Barry a DNP-CD topple the Lakers. You couldn't draw a more fierce nightmare for whottt.
Not to spoil the outcome but what will happen next is the Lakers will beat the Rockets and then whottt will post things like "Scola CHOKED against the Lakers", "Scola had a chance to show what he could do and got owned by the Lakers" and "Barry would have won the series if he played instead of Scola".
But I'll let whottt take back over before I spoil too much of how this will play out![]()
I'll tell you exactly what's going to happen...this series is going to end with Scola putting up bricks down the stretch in a 4th quarter...or basically just like his Euroleague finals appearances ended.
These sorts of characteristics about players don't change.
BTW, I don't think it's any revelaton that Scola got pissed about RC's emails...I've been bringing that up in Scola is an asshole posts for years now...what you FAIL to see is that while that no doubt made things worse, Scola was an asshole years before that happened.
Knew it![]()
I'd say more.
I can see the classic
"The Rockets would have beaten the Lakers with Scola hurt and mutombo playing"
coming pretty soon.
Was the calculation of Bonner's 3s in uneven minutes of Thursday's games factored in against Scola's fouls on weekend PO games brought up already?
The classic is already here...
It's 3 years of ing about the Scola trade and what a difference he would have made and then pussying out and saying you can't expect him to make a difference in a series in which he needs to make a difference...
I mean if he can't make a difference, what the have ya'll been ing about...
Without a doubt...the Rockets could lose to the Lakers without Scola.
Feel better now?
PS: I've said that sort of thing about him often...in fact it's my entire point.
Explain please why do you think he's an asshole.
Ya, but Scola is helping out. He may not be putting up Dwight Howard numbers, but he is helping.
He competes hard and hustles and rebounds; even if the Rockets lose the coach, players and fans love the guy and appreciate what he brings to the playoffs. Can you say the same for Bonner?
Simple question, do not dodge with a misplaced, long-winded answer: Who would you rather have going forward: Bonner or Scola? Just type one of their names.

He helped enough to get the Rockets out of the first round, which is a feat itself for the team up north. Is he a superstar? , no. But he sure is willing to be a valuable complementary piece.
That's the million dollar question. It's real easy to dog on Scola when you don't take a look at our starting center. But when you do, it's a no brainer.
Finally,
without Scola, Italy would have won the 2004 Olimpics.
Argentina got that one because of Scola not because of Ginobili.
One game, no freakin 7 games soap operas:
win it or blow it for your lifetime.
I was as disappointed by anyone that we didn't get for him...I expected Nocioni for him at the least, remember?
Difference is, I don't think we failed to get much in this case because the Spurs were stupid, rather moreso that Scola ed us.
Like I said...he's an asshole.
LINK
and then...
Two things are evident here... 1)whottt doesn't like to lose face, 2)whottt wouldn't admit being wrong if his life depended on it
I've said he's a better rebounder than I expected many times. In fact I've said he seems intent on making RC eat his words with every game he plays. Doesn't change my overall fundamental critique of him as a player, nor does the fact that he is a better rebounder justify Scola suckers whining and ing about it to the degree that you'd think we traded Jordan, Wilt and Bird to the Rockets for Alfedrick Hughes.
ya'll...if we're so incompetent and got raped on this deal so badly...go root for the ing Rockets.
It is abomination to root for both the Rockets and the Spurs, it is ing sacrilege.
Now let me tell you 2 things about you...1. you are every bit the Nationalistic Homer you claim I am, actually moreso 2. you flat out do not see it.
Wheras I know exactly what I am doing when I do it. That's what makes it so funny.

Sorry dude we'retoo just like you...
This is about you not the Rockets and who prefers them vs. the Lakers... and it seems u r rooting for Phil Jackson... classy...
Posters form all over the world are Spurs fans and Scola fans
This is what u r doing:![]()
I doubt it...you guys won't be fishing until the Rockets are gone.
This is about you not the Rockets and who prefers them vs. the Lakers... and it seems u r rooting for Phil Jackson... classy...
The Rockets playing the Lakers has little or nothing to do with why the bandwaggoners are pulling for the Rockets.
Posters form all over the world are Spurs fans and Scola fans![]()
You mean posters from all over the world are following the Spurs due to a player from their homeland playing for the Spurs...
Seen it many times...when we had a Turkish player we had this dude from Turkey...
ed about how badly the Spurs screwed up, mistreated his player, dropped the ball etc...when the Turkish player was gone so was he.
Slovenians used to roam free on this board when we had two Slovenians...now, maybe only 1 or 2 remain...
No one is fooled by this act, it's been seen before many times.
Sure not all the fans will be that way, just the majority of them....and primarily the ones ing the loudest about the Spurs dropping the ball with Scola.
By the way, me? I'm adjusting to losing in the first round for the first time in a decade, and going two years in a row without a le for the first time in 8 years....I don't call that having it bad, I call that having it good, and having probably the best FO in basketball...I call Scola a ing scrub who doesn't even register on the Spurs radar...the Rockets will have to win 4 les in a row to justify all the Scola whining.
