I met the future Mrs. Brodels in college in 1999. I joined a national service fraternity and had a frat 'mother' who turned out to be the future Mrs. Brodel's best friend. I thought she was cute and word kind of got around...I asked her out a short time later. She wasn't into a relationship for a while though. I pressed hard to keep us together over the first couple of months.
I've broken parts of my wrists/hands on two different occassions playing basketball. I got a cast on my right hand/wrist/arm the day of our first date. I ate my meal with my left hand for the first time that night. I was dumb enough to get pasta, too. It was quite an adventure, and I didn't really get to eat much.

She stayed until 2a that night and came back over New Years Day at 7p and stayed with me until 2p the next day when I left for home. Over time we talked via email and phone and we made trips back and forth to see each other. We saw each other once a month until June 2002 when we moved her to SA. We got married in October 2003 and have been happily married since. Something I found out later about fate....the week leading up to the New Years party, Erica had been sick and only decided to go at the last minute.
