no its because why would he leave home on a young championship team to go to a team where duncan will be starting his decline soon and ginolbili legs turned to glass

and kobe won't be declining anytime soon either?

why wouldn't ariza come to the spurs when he knows he's the missing piece for the spurs to beat the lakers and for us to win another championship

duncan has not showed signs of declining he is still putting up 20 and 10 and probably will for another 2 or 3 years

why wouldn't ariza want to come play along side tim duncan the best overall basketball player (not scorer laker fans then of course that would be kobe cuz he jacks up 30 shots a game) i don't know i think the spurs might be ariza's second option if lakers dont give him the money he wants

Just remember this, your superstar also has a lot of mileage on his body. I know he stays in shape and has a good workout regimen but Father Time stops for no one.

But I will agree that Ariza more than likely will remain a Laker.

    Chad ford chat

    Michael (LA)

Are the Lakers going to keep both Odom and Ariza? If not, which teams do you think are most interested in them?
    Chad Ford

I don't know how they can. From what my sources are telling me, they are absolutely keeping Trevor Ariza. I think Odom will come down to what he's looking at as far as amount and length of contract. Lots of teams would be interest in Ariza including the Blazers and Pistons ... two teams with cap room. I think Odom may have to do the midlevel thing unless the Pistons come through with more money. There just aren't a lot of teams with lots of cap room this year.
Are the Pistons really going to throw big money at Odom? Doubtful. How does Odom solve that team's problems. He's at best a good 3rd/4th option.

IMO Lakers probably keep both with Ariza getting full MLE money + years and Odom a 3 year deal at slightly higher price, say 7 mil.

That would be about 26M per year total for Ariza+Odom as long as they are over the luxury tax

There's no way LA lets Ariza go after they watched how much losing Posey hurt Boston. Ariza is already more important to LA than Posey was to Boston, and in addition has the ability to get better. He's got the talent, work ethic and basketball I.Q. to develop a good point forward ability.

They are worth it. But Sasha, Ammo and Luke are getting paid 15 million, which REALLY hurts.

Lakers have to pay out though. One year of salary cap and Ammo comes off the books, Fisher can be resigned for significantly less. The next year Sasha is off the books and a new CBA will be up for negotiation.

    Worth the investment.

At the parade today they said that Ariza is going nowhere, same with Odom. Kobe will more than likely stay and retire a Lakers. Not sure about Shannon Brown's future but when they introduced him and Ariza, the crowd went wild. Those 2 received the loudest cheers out of anyone there. Crowd went nuts over SB and you can see he's their favorite, along with Ariza.

I can see Ariza getting 6 mil and Odom getting around 8-9 and both will stay in LA. It's a big paycut for Odom but he said he is willing to take a cut and really wants to remain a Lakers. Money is important but the bond Ariza and Odom built with this team, along with winning a championship, will play a major factor in their decisions to stay or bolt. Also, management has made them feel very important as does the crowd.

Enjoy yourself Bro. Wish I was there Damn I miss home...
Tell the Laker family out there that Laker Nation is well represented here in S.A.
I read your message before I left but I was running too late to respond. You were there in Spirit!

I've been to 9 parades and I have never seen that many people before, it was ridiculous!

It sounds like Odom and Ariza will be here next season.

To all the other fans out there. Sorry, but our bandwagon is Full!

By the sentiment given at the rally and parade, I think the Lakers will be hard to beat to land either Ariza/Odom. I think we get both back, but if one goes it will be pretty devastating and make things a little difficult. There was a sense of symmetry towards the end of the reg. season and the playoffs and I'm sure those two would be best served to remain a part of something special.

Lakeshow this was my 4th parade and did it seem like a whole bunch more people at this one than the past ones?

Trevor Ariza: Wants to Stay With Lakers

Update: Ariza said this week that he would love to return to the Lakers next season.

Recommendation: “I’d love to come back,” Ariza said. “Money is important, this is our job here, but I built a bond with my coaches and my teammates.” Both Ariza and Lamar Odom(notes) are free agents this summer, and how the Lakers choose to handle each situation will go a long way in determining whether they repeat as champions next season.
