i like pink floyd, theyre a good band
but theyre considered like legends and one of the greatests bands of all time

    no
i dont like matchbox 20, in fact i think theyre the tiest band of all time along with nickleback and goo goo dolls and crap like that

what i meant when comparing them to Floyd. is that they were wildly succesful and mainstream, with basic "music" and average lyrics

I think they're worthy of the legendary status. Dark Side of the Moon is one of the greatest rock albums of all time, Piper at the Gates of Dawn is an essential album of the Psychadelic era of British music, and The Wall is one of the quintessential concept albums of all time. They are probably the most established group in the "Prog Rock" genre.

Matchbox 20 is prepackaged focus group rock... it's "Adult Contemporary". Maybe Pink Floyd was wildly successful in the Seventies, but I think that has more to do with the fact that people had better taste in music back then.

You're obviously using the same drugs that THEY did. Pink Floyd is in no way a bubblegum pop band. , they only EVER charted one single, Another Brick In the Wall part III. They were album oriented, psychadelic blues. Have you ever sat down and listened to DSotM beginning to end? Or Wish you were Here? If not, you really don't know the band at all.

Do you think they're overrated now or overrated then?

I think that now, they are overrated, cuz alot of people listen to them just for the sake of liking old rock, and thats some of the only old rock they hear on the radio.

Dude, how can you be overrated when you had an album that stayed on the top 100 charts for a decade, nonstop, without even a single on it? Your logic escapes me.

Floyd only had good songs? Too funny Floyd had great albums not great singles, stones, zep, beatles, ect had great songs not great albums for the most part.

Floyd changed music for the ages they are still underrated to some extent in the states, they were bigger in the UK as for Floyd shirts you could say the same about any band that is worn.Dark side of the moon sold somewhere like i dunno 30+mill copies, and The wall sold like 23ish million most ever for a double cd album, I wish I was that overrated and so do most bands today.

Also forgot to add Radiohead ok computer to that list

I was always partial to Meddle, and I'm shocked at the sudden realization I have not listened to it in the last 15 years. One of These Days was one of those songs my impressionable little mind could not help but latch onto, way back when.

Yea Meddle is where I think they found that golden era that lasted till The Wall, Echoes is one of the greatest epic songs they ever made.
