This is why I hate the youth of Laker fans and switched. They want to trade these 2 guys and expect to get LeBron in return. They see no problem in getting Gasol for nothing and didnt earn the le. It was given. Now they will say "Lets trade our 2nd round pick for Durant"...and fully expect it to happen and if it doesnt, its because Durant and the Thunder are morons for not bowing to the Lakers.
In the interest of being fair, how is that not like RJ for the Spurs? He may not be Gasol-caliber, but he could potentially make as much difference on his team. All the Bucks still have from that trade is a veteran Kurt Thomas (plus cap space, same as Grizz). Marc Gasol is better for Memphis than KT is for the Bucks. But Gasol made the Lakers into a le contenders much like JR has for the Spurs.
The real difference? The Bucks originally got three name players, so it seems like the two trades don't compare. But if the Spurs end the season in a win, us fans will be celebrating in much the same way: "Thanks Bucks, we couldn't have done it without you."
If it was such a given... then why couldn't the Lakers win the year before? If its such a given, then why are there so many threads talking about the 6 teams that could win it all? How is trading away washed up players that get waived for an all star any more tollerable than trading a rookie with potential and draft picks for an all star? Ohh, if it's the Lakers on the other end.

Nothing drastically different from what we anticipated Thursday when the Lakers and Odom finally reached an agreement after a month of oft-testy negotiations, but still worth passing along in the name of specificity.
The overall worth of the contract based on numbers that were circulated throughout the league Monday is $32.8 million over four years, with the Lakers holding a team option in Year 4.
Odom will earn $7,500,000 this coming season, $8,200,000 in 2010-11,
$8,900,000 in 2011-12 and then $8,200,000 in the non-guaranteed fourth year if the Lakers pick up their team option.
So that's $24.6 million guaranteed over the first three years. If the Lakers decline their option, they must pay out a $2.4 million buyout before the fourth season to get Odom to $27 million guaranteed, matching the value of the original three-year offer that the Lakers pulled off the table in mid-July.

As a side note, that's a pretty nice trade chip the Lakers will have after the 2011-12 season. Similar value to Bowen+Oberto, with significantly less guaranteed.
