Last season , I went to a Canadiens-Senators game; Chris Higgins had a hat-trick, I think I saw just 1 hat and 1 can of beer on the ice.

I've sat in front of the glass at a Rampage game, thought that glass would break at any moment. Kinda scary.

I didn't know there was hockey etiquette at a game. Some guy told me you aren't suppose to get up and go potty, buy a beer, etc. until play stops. Not during.

When hats are thrown on the ice, the staff collects them and allows the fans to go down to the tunnel and get their hats back after the game.

...and yes, youre not supposed to get up during play. The event staff at The Joe will actually have you wait on the stairs until there is a break in the action to get back to your seat.
