I have the "Dark Knight" version. I think they are pretty average looking shoes but they are super light.

The sole pattern worried me at first glance, with regards to grip, but it seems to be fine.

As far as ankle support goes, any basketball player who doesn't tape their ankles deserves to end up in hospital. Good taping effectively makes the hi-top low-top argument irrelevant.
i wear a pretty thick ankle brace on my left foot and the low top shoes help significantly with the fit

Yeah, I wear a solid McDavid brace on both feet as per the advice of my surgeon. As you mention, the lightness of the shoe and the low cut help in the fit of the (now very wide) braced foot.

I am actually warming to the look of the shoe. Its kinda funky. However, I am a bit of a purist and still prefer the look of a basketball boot. Saying that my favorite shoe (after the AJ-XI) is that silver, audi TT, adidas Kobe. I loved wearing those shoes, and that was some time ago, when I was young and naive and absolutely hated Kobe because he kept beating the out of my Spurs.

I dont really like the model, too low. In my eyes basketball shoes should be high, but its a matter of taste. These can be cool to wear outside of playing basketball.
And the colors are awfull, too flashy, kitsch.

i was pretty worried about the low tops too so i bought the hyperdunks. Then i figured ill try the Kobe IV. Now i feel that the low tops give more ankle stability then the hyperdunks.

The Kobe's are actually pretty tight around the ankle.

If you dont like flashy, these are pretty nice and simple:
