So much of the story doesn't add up, it's obvious that Tiger's version is a lie. TMZ's version makes a lot more sense. Above all, why would you release a wierd statement like that if all you did was get in a stupid accident in your driveway?
Neither of these make sense:

I'm sure a lot of people will have more respect and even some sympathy for the black man who beat his white wife.

Well I think the rest of us would make a brief statement regardless of cir stances…In Tigers case, he has to walk on eggs to protect his public image, business empire & endorsements…
Tiger is not required by law to speak to the police. All he has to do is supply license registration and insurance.
Really? Even though charges are pending due to the damage to city property (the fire hydrant)? That's odd. I thought he'd at least have to explain what happened.

If it's classified as a traffic accident only then he doesn't have to make any statement. This is why FHP is trying to get info on Tiger's injuries from the hospital. If they can gather evidence that a crime was committed then he will have to address it.
Not according to the article - and a statement could be self-incrimination. They can investigate without his statement, but they are unlikely to get far. If they charge him with damages, I expect he'll just pay them. Since no alcohol was involved, it's unlikely to escalate.
But yeah . . . his story and the rumors don't add up. I'm inclined to think something scandalous, given his statement.
Tiger's Wood got him in deep trouble.
He can ignore the police because allegedly, everything happened on his property. It's like getting into a car accident in a Wal Mart parking lot.
A fire hydrant and a mailbox would not have been on private property.
