Playing on the floor with Hairston, he looked like a super star in comparison. At least he didn't trip on his own feet. I simply don't get all the love for Hairston on this board.

both of them need some time in games like this before we can make any real judgement, but Haislip has better physical ability-ie. size and athleticism--than Hairston to start with.

I agree of the two Haislip has the most upside to ever crack the first team unit. I just don't see Hairston being more then a practice player for the Spurs.

My problem with Haislip is he seems to stay outside on the perimeter for the most part. I'm sure this is his role so he spreads the floor for Timmy. Isn't Bonner enough for this role?

I always thought Haislip was built for cleaning up around the rim, with putbacks, rebounds and boxouts because of his strength. I never pictured him as a jumpshooter.

Who knows? Maybe if he can work with Chip, we'll have a poor man's version of Dirk on the Spurs? A stronger and scrappier version.
You were absolutely wrong. I wrote here over the Summer that what Haislip brings to the table is an above average face-up game, especially from the high post (as a scorer, he's a subpar passer). He's always been a crappy rebounder and a bellow average defender, in spite of his athleticism. He's way better than Hairston right now. Haislip role in the NBA is as a scoring face-up 4, he can't do anything else.

Hairston has A LOT more upside than Haislip, who is at the end of his physical prime and doesn't really have any basketball skills that will translate once he loses his athleticism..Hairston doesn't either right now, but he still has a good 6-7 years of athletic prime..

Hairston has actually played really well when he's been given minutes..he looked really good in actual NBA time last year and in preseason..he's gotten better since last year, a lot better..did you guys all miss this or are you basing this on one game of garbage minutes?..there's a reason most of us are high on him, we've actually been following him, not analyzing his performance in garbage time..

Haislip has only looked decent in garbage time where nobody really takes it seriously, Hairston has looked good in actual NBA time and against NBA rotation players in preseason..

Haislip looked like one of the worst players I've ever seen in preseason..playing garbage minutes doesn't really change that..he looked overmatched against NBA talent in preseason..

He might be good, but he isn't going to get a chance anyways..he isn't better than Ratliff, not at all..don't even compare him to Bonner..

That's the problem with Haislip though..

In preseason when he was put against rotation players, he couldn't beat any of the bigs off the dribble..he looked really awkward when he was put in the post, usually passing it out right away..

He looked HORRIBLE defensively..he was abused in the post and he was having trouble on the perimeter too..I'll give him a pass for getting abused by Scola, since all of our bigs do, but Rob Kurz torching him?!..

I don't see how he would fit a role here..why would we give him Bonner's role?..Bonner is a much, much better shooter from anywhere on the floor..Haislip doesn't defend or rebound better than Bonner..it looks like people want to give him Bonner's role just because he can dunk..

Ratliff gives us a legit shot blocker and he's produced all year when he's been given minutes..he fills a need..
