I watched his film and Walls is an absolute playmaker at safety. He can cover and he brings the wood when he tackles.
Before anyone is quick to make judgement, I read today that Brandon Williams is quite impoverished. Not sure what his family members are like, but he lives with one of the members of his high school coaching staff. Needless to say he's naive to the recruiting process and Art Briles probably took advantage of that by being very persuasive. Baylor would be an excellent place for him to showcase his talents and get a good education, but it's still odd that he committed without first visiting Texas (his dream school). In light of this information, I can see why a young man concerned about his future would pull the trigger so quickly.
I watched his film and Walls is an absolute playmaker at safety. He can cover and he brings the wood when he tackles.
TE Chris Barnett of Euless Trinity committed to Oklahoma today and LB Trevon Randle of League City Clear Springs committed to LSU. I updated the master list.
Blue chip safety Avery Walls ended up making it to Austin last Wednesday and spent the majority of the day with Duane Akina. Walls said he received the "red carpet treatment" and even got to meet with University of Texas President, Bill Powers. Unfortunately, Mack Brown was not in town because of personal reasons and therefore Walls did not receive an official offer. He plans on coming back to Austin later this year.
Oklahoma pulled in a Round Rock duo this weekend at their Junior Day:
LB, P.L. Lindley, Round Rock Stony Point (6-2, 210)
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footbal...-Lindley-90985
DT, Jordan Wade, Round Rock Stony Point (6-4, 293)
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footbal...dan-Wade-90984
Lindey is a name at least, may be stretching on the DT
Edmond a lock for texas, this guy has ruthless tenacity and a larcenous heart, ready to THUTHle. Damn horns pulling in the best of the best at LB
Oklahoma may actually be on the brink some time soon
On the brink of what? Stoops revived greatness?
That's what makes it the brink. Bobby knight style
It didn't sound like Cedric Reed or Steve Edmond really liked what the Sooners had to offer. I hope both of them commit to Texas soon (we know where their hearts are). I hate that Anthony Wallace has been so silent, though.
Big Game Bob is definitely taking the Longhorns' leftovers when it comes to recruiting the state of Texas. It definitely hasn't always been like that and this momentum shift is awesome to see. , the Longhorns are even plucking recruits out of Stoops' backyard these days (i.e. DeMarco Cobbs, maybe Josh Turner).
Gerry Hamilton of ESPN is reporting that the Longhorns got commitment #14 earlier today...and he is a BAMF. Orangebloods has stated that Steve Edmond called Will Muschamp and Mack Brown about an hour ago to let them know the good news. I updated the master page.
LB, Steve Edmond, Daingerfield (6-3, 225)

Just a quick preview for UT's second Junior Day on Saturday, 2/27. This guy will be in attendance after all. He wasn't sure if he could make it to Austin because of his basketball schedule, but he texted Orangebloods today and confirmed he will be there.
OL, Matt Hegarty, Aztec (Aztec, New Mexico) (6-5, 265)
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footbal...Hegarty-100223
I will give a final list for the second Junior Day attendees tomorrow night or Friday.
BAD news coming out of Austin...RB Herschel Sims of Abilene has decided not to visit Austin this weekend. He stated that he feels as if the Longhorns have other RBs ahead of him and he's not confident he would receive an offer. On the positive side, maybe things are looking good with Malcolm Brown and Aaron Green or...Brandon Williams is back on the radar.
Sims is for sure bad news. For some good news Texas picked up recruit #15 with the commitment of OL Sedrick Flowers.

*I only see about three to five offers going out. Should be an interesting weekend because RB Herschel Sims declined his invitation last night and OL Sedrick Flowers committed to Texas earlier this afternoon. Pressure will be on OL Matt Hegarty and OL Garrett Greenlea.
LB Kendall Thompson is recruit commit #16 for the Horns!
http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recru...om&season=2010
OL Garrett Greenlea is recruit commit #17 for Texas!
http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recru...om&season=2010
Texas cannot be stopped on the recruiting trail right now. The only ? left is will they get one of the RB studs? Anything after that would just be cherries on the top.
Here's the scholarship situation after the second Junior Day:
Outstanding Offers
RB, Aaron Green, San Antonio Madison
RB, Malcolm Brown, Cibolo Steele
OL, Matt Hegarty, Aztec (Aztec, New Mexico)
OL, Christian Westerman, Hamilton (Chandler, Arizona)
DE, Cedric Reed, Cleveland
DE, Jermauria Rasco, Evangel Christian (Shreveport, Louisiana)
DT, Marquis Anderson, Cibolo Steele
DT, Quincy Russell, San Antonio Sam Houston
LB, Anthony Wallace, Dallas Skyline
Some interesting nuggets from yesterday:
*OL Garrett Greenlea was a surprise commitment and leads many to believe that up to seven offensive lineman could be signed for 2011. OL Matt Hegarty of Aztec, New Mexico was offered as well but he'd like to make a few more visits before he decides.
*Zero DBs were offered yesterday (including Quandre Diggs). It could possibly be his grade situation, but I think the coaches are being smart and waiting to see what the roster looks like after spring practice. This is usually where inevitable attrition occurs and it will give them a better idea of how many prospects they can sign for 2011. I also think they'd like to get DB Josh Turner of Oklahoma City in for a visit to gauge his interest before making a decision on who they really want for the defensive backfield.
*WR Hakeem Flowers of Greenville, South Carolina was told that he would have an offer if he wanted to commit, but the staff did not extend an official offer. This was smart because it helps them keep a grip on how many outstanding offers they have and gives the staff an opportunity to turn Hakeem down if the scholarship situation doesn't work out when/if he decides to commit. Mack would never rescind an offer unless a recruit had behavioral or grade problems.
*WR Marquis Jackson of Forth Worth Arlington Heights, DT James Castleman of Amarillo, DB Franklin Shannon of Dallas Skyline and DB Josh Turner of Oklahoma City were not in attendance.

Must get Brown. He is an absolute must since Sims and the Horns are not on the same stratosphere right now.
For all of you Red Raiders out there, you got a solid commitment from this guy:
FB/LB, Devon Hocutt, Killeen Ellison (5-11, 258)
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footbal...n-Hocutt-84780
Good week for Texas Tech. Huge commitment today that I'm not happy about:
QB, Michael Brewer, Austin Lake Travis (6-1, 175)
http://rivals.yahoo.com/texas/footba...p9E3GKcWbrt5B4
Texas Tech can suck my Taint
Would you want Muschamp to start recruiting the deepest darkest innermost ghettos of Florida, but only if we ended up taking the number 1 defensive player in the state?
i would rather have every nfl longhorn play for the cowboys
We better not miss on all 4 or 5 of the 5* RB recruits. I'd love to get Brown locked up, but have to get one of them or it's epic fail. So far we are recruiting defense like true beasts thanks to Boom, but the offense is a bit behind. Gotta land one of these RBs.
