No. Bibby and Horford.
Bibby seriously? I wouldn't mind trading Tony but it will mean abusing the other team to get at least equivalent value in return (in terms of fitting with our team/talent).
No. Bibby and Horford.
Is there any way to make a poll about who's gonna leave?? PLZ include RJ, BOnner, Mason, TD, Manu, TP ...we need fresh air and clean start.
So you're advocating to trade our all NBA point who is in his prime for a solid but aging point who has displayed real inconsistency this season and a real good center prospect that won't ever be more than top 10 at his position who would be wasted by the aquisition of Tiago.
Again I can see the logic of wanting to trade Tony as he may command a big extension. But you don't trade away Tony for so little in return. I would puke at the sight of Bibby trying to run the spurs offense.
So according to you Bibby is inconsistent, yet Parker is/was a model of consistency....excuse me while I break into hysterical laughter.
At least Bibby played in almost every game (80 games) this year and last, something Parker hasn't been able to do.
Bibby would be perfect in the role of running the spurs' offense IMO. He is a pass-first playmaker with a playoff resume a mile long who will get everyone involved in the offense. He can shoot the 3 at close to 40% which is exactly what the spurs need to space the floor. Parker does not do either of these things particularily well.
Horford would be perfect next to Tim Duncan. Splitter (if he even comes which is doubtful) will need a year or so to adjust to the nba game. Horford would come ready the moment he arrives in SA. Plug n play, baby. The time to win in the Tim Duncan era is NOW. We don't have the luxury of two more years of ing around with unknown projects like Splitter.
I should really qualify the "Bibby as playmaker" comment I made. He isn't so much a "playmaker" as he likes to push the ball in transition and find open shooters/cutters which fits better IMO with players like Manu, Hill, and Jefferson. His game reminds me alot of Jason Kidd's. And remember how good the Kidd-Jefferson combo was?
Bibby's game just fits better the way this team is currently constructed.
He started 80 games and haven't been injured so he's got no excuses for scoring below 10 points a game and dishing less than 4 assists in 28 minutes while shooting 41% from the field.
WOW.
You've been watching the Spurs? So we're gonna sit our almighty pass first playmaker in the corner so he can shoot the three ball?
Gimme your crystal ball time to time. As your comments on Splitter make it obvious, you have no clue how good Tiago is. I like Horford too but you're obviously clueless when it comes to euro ball.
He played the entire season the last two years... yah that was pretty much my point. Parker has missed some 50+ games in that time frame. And Bibby's not out there to provide scoring, he's a distributor mainly who shoots an occasional 3 and pushes the ball in transition. He'll fit seamlessly with Hill, Jefferson, & Manu.
Okay, so I should pencil Splitter in for what, 18/12 then? If he's so great he should have no problem beating Horford's 14/10 this year.
Wrong. Two large expiring contracts usually work, especially when said franchise has gone on record as wanting to cut salary and rebuild.
The real problem with this trade is that the salaries dont work. It would have to be more along the lines of a Parker/Jefferson for CP3/Okafor/<random bench guy>.
If NO really wants to rebuild, this works::
TP, RJ and filler (maybe Splitters rights) for CP, Okafor and David West.

Why would the Hornets give up their best player to another team in the same division? Same goes for the Spurs
Read the two posts above yours........
Also, CP3 is an upgrade/lateral move to Parker in almost every category except getting to the rim.
It's just a hypothetical but to answer, because it benefits both teams.
I can't wait for the spurs to extend parker so all these trade happy fans will have nothing to talk about.
Who would take an out of shape, old Sheed with his contract?
Okafor ing sucks, ask any NO fan.
just for fun...playing around with the mashine...actually I wnt through all the teams and thats the closest to make sense...or in other words: nothing makes sense right now:
with pistons:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMa...radeId=2boreq8
not sure, if the pistons would handicap stuckey again, but parker could be the new face of their team...something they are lacking right now. for us it would give us the stopper to play alongside a Hill/Manu lineup...would still need a backup-PG and a big (if Splitter doesnt show up)
with bobcats:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMa...radeId=2altkp5
...similar to the pistons trade: they get a 1A-option and face of the franchise and we get a wing, that can do it...Diop just gives us a big body to fill it out.
with blazers:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMa...radeId=2erza36
...handing them the future, while giving us the big to start a last run and a nice young player in return
...that said: The only way Parker is going, is costcutting to package him with Jefferson...all of that for basically nothing. I think we all should hope for Parker to be not traded, but overall I trust our franchise and they will do, what is best in the long run, for Peter Holt and for guys like Timmy!
Can the Bobcats sign and trade Felton to go along with Gerald Wallace in exchange for Parker and a first rounder?
I'd package him with some other guy. But it's a MLE contract for another year + option, let's not pretend it's some gigantic albatross.
whether to trade parker or not, this reminds me of the summer in 03 with all the big FAs, and we opportunity costed so many pieces and picks that no one came here
So many people here are so against against a bosh for parker trade.. It's the only way to realistically address our frontcourt problems. I guess if you have such a hard-on for parker we could just keep him and stay the same team that got owned in the 2nd round. -Unless you unrealistically think an anderson verajao clone (splitter) is gonna bring us a championship...now thats a re ed thought. I'd trade parker for bosh in a heartbeat.
I don't think they are so much against the trade as they are incredulous at anyone who thinks it is remotely possible.
lol Verajao comparison.
@OP: By makes sense, do you mean like the time I saw an elephant wearing a tutu singing show tunes, then yes.![]()
Because they're the first authority on that sort of thing right?![]()
