I have sympathy for the kid. It's sad what happened to him.
What I don't have sympathy for is people clamoring about a lack of media hype, and talking about reverse racism without any plans to actually do something about it. If it bothers you that much, why are you only posting about it on Spurstalk, jack? Go get active in the community instead of whining about it on a sports forum and then ripping people for not being up in internet arms with you.

I was agreeing with you. I know I seem like a reverse racist at times, but situations like this piss me off. A group of black guys beating up a white guy is just as much of a "hate crime" as a group of white guys beating up a black guy. , they're both no different than a groups of white guys beating up another white guy. Laws like "hate crime" laws only increase racial tensions, it implies beating up a black guy is somehow different than beating up a white guy.
You do know this is being investigated as a hate crime, don't you?

I'm outraged at the lack of outrage amongst Spurstalk posters/liberal mainstream media types that a story about a hate crime isn't getting multiple threads/24-hour news coverage on every news outlet!!!!
I found this on the web, as it relates to the murders of Channon Christian and Chrisopher Newsome.
Robert Zelnick, a professor of journalism at Boston University, told Cybercast News Service Thursday the Knoxville murders, "as gruesome as they were, need a strong peg to reach a national audience." "Racism would certainly be one. Celebrity involvement would be another. An epidemic of criminal activity of this sort would be a third," he said. "The coincidence of white victims and black perpetrators doesn't pass muster, though the coincidence of white perpetrators and black victims might because of its relative infrequency," Zelnick added. Still, "cases like this do make you resist the nonsense peddled by certain self-anointed black 'civil rights leaders' who suggest that the high incidence of black male incarceration is a function of society's racism," he said. That claim is "nonsense," according to Zelnick. "It is a function of the breakdown of spiritual, cultural, educational and family value systems in the African-American community."
