    I feel the linesmen are EASILY influenced by what they see in players' reactions when the call is questionable. On that play (like many), the Spanish defense stops playing, so the linesman is more inclined to call offsides.

    The same happens when someone trips on the field, stops playing, and looks at the ref with his arms up looking for a foul. Messi comes to mind...

    Refs/linesmen make reputation calls too often. If that was Spain scoring in that scenario, no way they would have blown the whistle for a possible offside. The lesser countries always get screwed over on the close calls.

    Valdez needs to be more patient on that, but nice play. Paraguay have many more scoring opportunities than the Spanish.
