You can survive this. The Sonics killed the Spurs today, but the Spurs will come back harder in game five. They will get that game. They will go to Seattle on a mission. They will win game six. Then -- with this adversity strengthening them -- they'll be ready for the rest of the playoffs.

This is just a speed bump. I know that it'd be easy to give up on them, but you two are better than this. You are a part of this team and you know they'll come out of this. The Spurs will bounce back. You'll be there too.

True Spurs fans stay together. Let's do this.

    Believe.
I am scared it will happen again... like last years defeat against the Lakers.. but I am not quitting on the Spurs... they should find a better strategy, plays, etc...

I simply cannot continue to support a group a guys that have absolutely no pride, no balls and no ing heart. The Seattle Sonics have disrespected us from a physical standpoint and have completely ridiculed us in the press and yet this team (for lack of a better word) cannot find the motivation required to merely compete, let alone defeat a squad playing without two of their top three players?

I have never been so disgusted in the fifteen years that I've been a fan and that includes the shock and awe that was 2001 vs. the Lakers. When I think of professional sports, compe ion, heart and pride come to mind and this team sorely lacks all of that and then some. With the exception of Tim Duncan and possibly Robert Horry, no ONE player came to Key Arena and played with anything resembling passion and that at the professional level is completely and totally inexcusable. Tony Parker drove the lane three times all evening- further reinforcing the fact that when confronted with anything resembling physical defense, he's more French than a beret and a baguette.

It's not about losing, it's not even about losing to a short-handed team. It's about the fact that after all the talk, all the hard fouls, all the bull from this loser Seattle team, we just tuck our tails and phone it in- IN A PLAYOFF GAME. As a fan, I can't accept that. I can't accept guys like Brent Barry and Tony Parker being paid millions to not even break a sweat.

I've been a fan since 1990, and today, I just can't do it anymore. The game of basketball, it's pampered primadonna 'stars', it's inconsistent refereeing, it's whining after every foul has just lost a fan of fifteen years.

Some will read this and not give a - I wouldn't either. To most of you, this will just be a post-game rant after a horrible loss. But for a guy that loves to watch players like Rodney Harrison, Ray Lewis, Steve Yzerman and David Robinson, I can no longer support a team that features the likes of Rasho Nesterovic and Brent Barry- guys that don't possess a compe ive bone in their bodies.

The story of the series- much like that of last year- the opposing team gets physical and their Spurs' players lose their nuts and their coach makes no adjustments. Guys stand around with their thumbs in their asses while all one hundred and forty five pounds of Luke Ridnour goes through our team like a hot knife through butter and nobody GIVES A .

I'm taking off my silver and black jersey and I'm never going to put it on again.

    May the best team win.

    Later.
Wow. I don't think I've ever heard of a fan announcing he is leaving his team's bandwagon after some rough times. That must be the first time this has ever happened in the sports world.
Someone call Guiness Book Of World Records.

BRAVO!! [note that I'm not laughing because it's funny; I've just had an exceedingly boring day...

Mouse, seriously, keep talking, and someday you'll say something intelligent, I'm sure of it. It seems that once again your fingers did not only the typing, but the thinking as well. I'm curious, though, when you wrote that down, did you think something like this,

"I've really put it to that ignorant bas this time. I expect this post to inflict permanent damage on him, possibly resulting in a suicide..."?

Wait, no, you couldn't have thought that...only someone with an IQ over 63 is able to...

I said he has a right to be upset. We all have a right to be upset. I did NOT say that he should have quit on the Spurs. Major difference there, mouseman. I understand that you're too myopic to differentiate, but you'll learn slowly. I'm not quitting on the Spurs, I just said that I hope Walton gets over it, and he had viable points. So what the are you talking about???

Oh, and your joke was a true masterpiece. You didn't have to laugh at it yourself to get us to see the true perfection of it. Let's engrain it on the White House, put it in the Charter, place it under the Hollywood sign and such. I'm sure everyone will get a kick out of that.

Hardcore sports fans, eh? Ooh, you used the word hardcore... Wow, mouse, you're a rebel! Won't your mummy ground you for saying that?

My two cents is free, and your brain is worth two cents. HEY!! We have something in common..

Two Hand and Walton's post were pretty accurate and I don't think it was just this one game that put them at melting point. The Spurs have completely failed to compete in the past. This Sonics team is about as weak as a second round opponent as you will find and the Spurs now find themselves in a dog fight. As Two Hand and Walton I'm sure would agree, it's not the loss that has put them in their stance, it's the way they lost.

I'm still a fan, but after watching this game, I don't think it's realistic to think of them as true le contenders. I think they are missing a Stephen Jackson piece and/or in need of a better version of Tim Duncan.

Every team in the playoffs besides Miami have had a totally horrible game or 2.

The Spurs played well enoght to be up 3-0, but their FTs cost them.

Every playoffs, the Spurs have a stinker game, and yesterday was one of them.

This team will bounce back and win on Tuesday night, I guarantee that.

I lliked seeing Brown in there and that will help them in the long run.

There's a difference between knowing you're going to be a marginal team when say, Tim retires, and watching your team piss away year after year of the Tim Duncan era because it's coach thinks offense is when you regroup for your next defensive possession.
Well said! It feels like we just don't ever want to finish people off for whatever reason! I felt like I was watching the ghosts of Willie Anderson and Charles Smith last night. That's what drives me crazy too. If I knew we had sub-par talent, I can live with effort. I still pull for the Cowboys and Texans, but Spurs show greatness and then piss it away always. Even in '03 we constantly let the opponenets into every series, but got away with it then. We may not be anymore!!

Look, the Spurs still out rebounded them, which means that they were at least trying. They were sloppy with the ball, they had 20 TOs, how many games do they win when they had 20 TOs.

They will get it together on Tuesday, hold their TOs down, hit their FTs and plat better defense. They will win and win by at least 15 pts....mark my words.

You guys and I have been watching pro-sports too long to NOT KNOW this happens. We are still the better team. IMO, we tried to play their game, and it resulted in an uncharacteristic high number of turnovers. Ridnour won't have a game like that until the middle of next year. James came back down to earth. I thought Pop should have called a time out to have the Spurs re-group after they started pulling away by more than 7 points.

But good championship teams bounce back, like Detroit did yesterday. We will, too. There is something to having home-court advantage, The fans did their part in Seattle. If I were in S.A. on Tuesday, I'd be there, come or high water, to do my "twelfth man" thing.

The Sonics really wanted the game yesterday. We've got to want this next game just as much.

Man, some fans in here are even softer than the way the Spurs played last night. Quitting on the team? That's ing weak! Even weaker than crying about the refs. Its the weakest thing you can do short of quitting on your family, friends and country.

I've not been a fan for long, but I am not planning to quit because we sucked one game, 10 games or if we suck an entire season. Where I come from, people don't jump ship because their team is not playing well. People stick with their teams for ever. The colors of their jerseys are tattooed in the fans' hearts. It's unimaginable that I would stop supporting the soccer or rugby teams I'm a fan of in Argentina. And I will never quit on the Spurs either.

I had never heard about "jumping of the bandwagon" until I read about Pooh and Mouse. That's a fvcking weak thing to do. Walton, if you are ready to follow them, then you are as much a disgrace as they are. And if you do, then have the decency of not posting here ever again.

    Fvck the unbelievers!

AND ... got beat in the paint 32 - 40.
How many games do the Spurs win when they get beat in the paint?

    "good championship teams bounce back"

Game4 was the Spurs' bounce-back game, wasn't it?

The Pistons and Mavs got Ws when they were facing 1-3. Congrats.

The Spurs are now facing returning to SEA 2-3. I really hope the Spurs can find the bounce they never found last May.

Newbie Spurs fans must be indoctrinated by fire. Having the team build you up just to tear you down is the nature of the beast. More often than not, guess what: the season ends in disapointment. Everybody can't win every year. We have had two championships in the past five years, and yet you complain. Spurs "fans" are turning into Laker fans, just jumping off the bandwagon like rats off a sinking ship.

The Spurs play at least two more games, I suggest that maybe you watch them and, oh, I don't know, maybe ROOT and CHEER for the Spurs?

The only beef I have, and not I am not blaming him for the loss, is Rasho being posterized. Here we have our guards getting killed when they go to the basket, and Rasho just looks up at Allen and fades away? WTF?

    Well said.

I was embarrassed to be a Spurs fan today. Embarrassed. I can't cheer for a team that doesn't push back when pushed. No heart, no emotion and no effort.

We're letting a bunch of no-talent thugs push us around, talk about us in the press and what do we do when we have a chance to make a statement? We play like punk es. That's what.

I can understand the letdown of game 3. I can let one errant game slip due largely to bad FT shooting, but to respond to it with a ing letdown like tonight? Inexcusable.

For all who thought Tony Parker had turned the corner, forget it. He was so scared of the paint he may as well have been wearing a yellow uniform. His lack of penetration set the tone.

    Barry? Useless.

Bowen? For those who think he hasn't lost a step... you're right. He's lost two. Totally useless on both ends of the floor.

    Rasho? The 7 foot vagina.

Pop? Don't even get me started.

We redefined the word soft tonight. You may not win a game but there's no excuse for not fighting back. None.

I'm not quitting as a fan but I definitely need some time away from this team. They are nothing to be proud of right now and I have trouble supporting a team with no heart.
Bro, I feel as you do! Damn, we fans are pissed and rightfully so.

I have been behind my Mighty Mighty Mavericks since 2000 , you never see me talk about jumping ship. or AJ has to go, But yet I have to hear bandwagon fan 24/7 by the same people who gave up after last nights game? How sad is it that a Maverick fan has more faith in the Spurs than 98% of you so called fair weather fans at this website?

I left the Spurs after the season was over. Not in the midddle of the playoffs, from this day fourth ,you all lost your rites to call anyone a band wagon fan.
