That is total bull . This was an LBJ self serving showcase and the charity bit was just a media ploy. How about he handles it more professionally and donates out ofhis own pockets to the Boys club.

Anybody that cannot see through the whole charity aspect of this circus is a idiot.
this. HarlemHeat is an idiot though

And the spectacle affected Cleveland how?
It was a slap in the face plain and simple. He only told Miami beforehand? You would think he would have more class than that after being coddled and catered to for 7 years. You have to let the guy who has supported you hear your "decision" on tv? Come on.

Lebron's " The Decision" apparently made approximately 2.5 million $ for the Boys & Girls Club..but ya, let's hate on him for that..

Helping kids >>> embarrassing a ty city and franchise that will be out of the NBA within the next 5 years..
GTFO...he could have donated that $$$ at anytime but he had to make a spectical of himself

    Agreed.

But... the spectacle of what this became is what created the monster of resentment. I realize some of that was beyond LeBron's control. But not most of it.
I agree ...unseemly but so was Lebron's press conference.

Just say I tried ... I failed and now Im taking the easier path ...

Frankly, I doubt very seriously that the Cavs did not see the writing on the wall. Even Tibetan monks in the Himalayas knew that LeBron was not holding a special live, primetime telecast on ESPN just to announce that he would be staying in Cleveland.

Now, granted, I would personally have done things differently, but I don't think LeBron's failure to call the Cavs ahead of time is worthy of the backlash it's getting. Not by a long shot.

And Gilbert's right to claim that LeBron acted without class was lost the moment he blasted LeBron on the website (assuming the text is true). Gilbert pissed away the opportunity to take the higher road by not writing something like the following:

"We are, of course, saddened by the loss of LeBron James. We are also disappointed and saddened by his un-wilingness to advise us of his decision to leave the team before making his announcement on television. Nevertheless, LeBron James is a tremendous athlete and has been a dedicated part of the Cavaliers family for years. We wish him well in his future endeavors."

I'll be the first to say that donating all the proceeds to the B&G club was a wonderful thing to do, but if anyone believes that maggot mother er didn't do this for selfish reasons, you are fooling yourself. How do you let the team that let you run the organization for seven years find out like everyone else? got mother er!! I can fully understand why Gilbert was pissed.

    Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF- LED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

    Just watch.

    Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day....

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue....

lebron didnt do anything wrong besides his charade on the media, at the end of the day he is a FA, he can choose to go wherever he wants....he owes the franchise nothing besides carrying that team...team basically did to build around him, even when they did, they put trash around him, it was him who carried that team

In reading that press release again, I'm struck by an ironic twist:

Gilbert is calling LeBron a traitor in the same breath that he promises that he will now really dedicate himself to bringing a championship to Cleveland. Does this mean he was holding something back and therefore selling LeBron short all those years he was promising to do everything he could to bring "the hardware" to Cleveland? If so, who's betraying who?

How about.... dont react. Coming from a racist liar like you... why would you care? I would love for you to show me how in anyway shape or form I used my disability to make anyone look bad. Talk about bull . You are the choosen 1 when it come to spewing it.

You don't give a about charity. It's just your way of justifying the obnoxiousness of Lebron and the spectacle he delivered in the most arrogant of ways.

Idk why Dan Gilbert is getting criticized for this, I give the man props for calling it like it is and trying to give the fans a reason to believe. Lebron deserves to be trashed, he left Cleveland hung out to dry and doesn't feel bad about it at all.
