Both teams were lottery teams last season.

The 2012 pick has value now. The right to exchange 2011 picks only has much value when it becomes apparent that New York will pick much higher in the 2011 draft than Houston. Until Yao proves to be healthy, that is far from a sure thing.
    Are you serious???

We went back to back in the 90's which means we will definitely be better than New York next year.

Sure i was 5 but still..

The Rockets can make the playoffs, even without Yao in the West (especially with the signing of Miller). The lack in height is what really hurt us in games last season.

About as cute as Spur fans thinking Tiago Splinter is the missing piece to rekindling a dynasty. You see, we can all be re ed at times.
When I post something like that, feel free to comment. For now, we're talking about comments in this thread by Rocket fans who believe that their team owns multiple future picks from New York.

    No one believed that though.

And technically (since you like to get technical) we do own multiple picks from New York, since it gets pushed back if they draft behind us or get in the protected area.

What does this signing add to the Rockets' roster? Don't know how the Rockets team work, so yeah it's a legit question
Brad Miller is pretty much a breather for Yao. As we all know Yao is very brittle, so instead of riding him for 38-40 minutes a game, we're going to give him a break during the regular season (25-30 minuter per). That's where Brad comes in. He's a seven foot 260 lbs. body that can pass very well and shoot. That's pretty much it.

Solid signing. Having that chemistry and experience are just extra bonuses and might stand out in the unfortunate case of Yao getting injured again.

RIF. Both you and the OP referred to "one of the Knicks picks". Your words, not mine.

Houston has the right to exchange picks. They own one, and only one, pick in 2011 which will be the higher of the two. Not the same as owning an additional pick.

"One of the Knicks picks" as in, throwing in the rights for the 2011 swap to Philly or the 2012 pick. You interpreted it the wrong way. You're really trying too hard here.

Then you should have said so to begin with. You're actually talking about trading Houston's 2011 pick or New York's 2012 pick. The way it was phrased in all earlier posts, to include the one quoted here, gives the impression that Houston owns additional picks in 2011 and 2012. Words do have meaning.

I'll take your word as to the original intent of your post.

That's basically having their pick if they pick above us (which all signs say they will).

I wouldn't be so sure. They're a playoff team in the East, Houston is a lottery team in the West.

I like Yao, so I hope this means they're planning on playing him less than 25 MPG during the regular season, so that he will at least have a chance to be playing in the playoffs..they can make the playoffs, even without him playing big minutes..

If they get Iggy, I'd have Martin come off the bench..his style would be good in that regard, he's still a good scorer that gets to the line an extremely high amount, and his defense wouldn't be an issue..

A Brooks/Iguodala/Battier starting unit would give the proper spacing, and Iggy/Battier would be a top 3 perimeter defensive tandem in the NBA, so Houston would be looking good there..

That's if they actually get Iguodala..if they don't get him, I don't really like Martin as their 2nd best player, and obviously there's still the strong possibility that Yao will be hurt..

I would be pretty scared of them if they get Iggy though, they would be stacked and it looks like they would have a good mix of post play/shooting/defense/bench play..

I miss the point where Yao goes down and Miller is the replacement center in this case.

When people say Yao getting hurt is a possibility, do they think "possibility" and "certainty" are interchangeable words?

No way Rockets get Iggy by giving up Ariza unless they give back expiring contracts and take back Brand

Looks like an insurance policy for Yao. How old is Miller? If you can't make it in Indy you can't make it anywhere!

T-Mac was a huge expiring and the Knicks were clearing capspace for FA. Ariza has a ty contract.

I see your point....Iggy already has a ty contract, locking up Philly for multiple years, if they really want to get rid of him, would they really demand Brand be taken in any such deal? They could, or Iggy could just be on their books since no one will take Brand

Clutchfans and their blind love to Morey

This is why Morey is one of the top GMs in the NBA. He thinks in long term.
Morey is 10 miles ahead of anybody else, as were posting he is at an elementary school scouting 9 year olds for the future of this franchise...
So Morey is miles ahead of anyone else because he does something in 2010 what someone else allready does since 2004 and what the whole league does since 1-2 years...
