Most likely it would be Melo and some Denver Scrub for three of our guys and we'd end up waiving the Denver Scrub. A typical Morey trade is the trade that got us Scola for a bag of chips and cash.

Then again, you have to consider the fact that Denver doesn't want to get LeBron'ed or Bosh'ed, so they should want to get some value back, whether the picks are included, or young talent, most likely both. I think Morey can convince the Nuggs that the Knicks will be bad enough to where the value of those picks will skyrocket, and they will at least have a bright future.

(wrote it also in the Knicks/big3 thread)
I'm sure the nets wouldn't hesitate for a second to offer Favors for Melo.
(no team in the NBA would. Favors has a lot of potential, but like every rookie, he is totally unproven. could very well have just the same ceiling like Okafor.)

and the story, that Brooklyn kid Anthony leads the Nets back to Brooklyn is just to good. and book it, Prokhorov is not the type of owner who wants to wait several years if a young player in fact develops into a superstar, if he can get a superstar immediately.

(btw. think about the money. who will bring in more $ immediately. Melo or Favors?)

the Nets package could be almost perfect for the Nuggets, if they start the rebuilding. (and they will, if they can't hold Melo)
Favors, the 2011 1st rounder, Murphy, they might even be able to demand Williams.
the contract of K-mart expires 2011, he will be 33 or 34 then. Favors is a great option to take his place. K-Mart becomes a trade chip at deadline, as well as Murphy, as well as Billupps. (or they let all expire and become a major player for the 2011 free agency)
If Favors were a deal breaker, you're probably right, they'd probably offer him. But I think they'd do everything in their power to avoid offering him. Ultimately though, he'd probably be their only shot.

I'd be very surprised if the Nets offered all of that. I'm aware of the magnitude of player we're talking about here, but still. An elite prospect (who's a big man), a potential quality 1st, a useful player who's on a big expiring contract and possibly another quality prospect.

I think they'll hold onto Billups. He's a local guy, can still play, very good leader and stabilizing presence which they need and by all accounts, seemingly wants to finish his career their.

I still think the Rockets could put together the best offer. It's the type of offer that could keep the Nuggets from becoming irrelevant in an instant. Sure, without Anthony, they'll be less national TV games and less national exposure either way, but they could still be a playoff team with Martin, Battier and Hill.
