    Is he? If he is, he's not a very good one.

    Jon Stewart is funny. This guy? Not so much.
    I can't say I'm surprised that DarrinS doesn't get Colbert's humor. It would take an ability to understand nuance.

    C-Span does get the "gabble to gabble" of public sessions. It's the other functions they now get shut out on, that they used to get access to.

    Colbert was not totally in control of the proceeding. In fact he was not in control of it at all.

    Except insofar as Congress argumentatively consented to him.

    So perhaps there was an intended joke on the part of the committee, though admittedly no detectable sense of humor. Awkwardness prevailed.
