are you sure? I thought it went by record?
Hamilton with the single goods
are you sure? I thought it went by record?
ok I stand corrected...Texas is sitting pretty then, especially if their starting pitching continues like this
nah bruh, wildcard teams come after the 3 division winners regardless of record.
lol Chad Qualls
And I can't believe I'm saying this, but we're clearly the most composed team this series
Ryan's hiding the blow from Ron, and it's working
With all the woofing from the Rays' bench after the check swing call and Maddon's immediate response after the Young HR, the Rays sure seem done for the day, mentally.
Maddon was pretty weak to go argue that call after the bomb.
Man, the Rangers really got away with one there, but the Rays exacerbated it by falling apart. I don't know if Maddon was trying to get his team fired up by getting ejected but I think they are too angry and dejected at this point. Or, at least I am hoping that is the case.![]()
That er, Maddon, better not be a smartass and start talking about the refs after the game. The Rays are getting outclassed by a team with 1 playoff victory ever before this season.
Hamilton got a hit in the next AB, so the score would be 3-0 if Young got called out, not 2-0. And if the Rays can't show they can score, then it really doesn't matter.
but the 3 run homer changed the momentum. We can't beat the refs too

I realize that. Doesn't change the fact that they still got away with one. I do think in the end though, that the final score will show it didn't matter that Young wasn't called out (knock on wood).
I want the final score to be 6-5 just to piss them off even more
I don't know if my ticker can take that.
Why does Capital One have a black AND white version of the SAME commercial on the SAME channel?
Holy . The Rangers are about to take a 2-0 lead and head home to finish them off.
I need to watch baseball more often. These single-matchup pitchers still confuse me a bit.
Oliver dispatches the heart of the Rays lineup easily. Three more outs!

Return to Original ShareretweetEmailPrintST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP)—Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon was ejected from Game 2 of the AL division series against Texas.
Maddon was thrown out by plate umpire Jim Wolf in the fifth inning Thursday after Michael Young(notes) hit a three-run homer to give the Rangers a 5-0 lead—one pitch after a disputed check-swing.
Moments before, Young tried to stop his swing on a 2-2 pitch. Wolf appealed to first base umpire Jerry Meals, who ruled that Young held up in time. Rays players were incensed on the bench, and replays showed that Young probably went too far.
After the home run, Maddon left the dugout to talk with reliever Chad Qualls(notes). The manager yelled at Meals from the mound, then argued with Wolf when the umpire arrived and was tossed.
Maddon also disputed a crucial call early in Wednesday’s 5-1 loss to the Rangers. Plate umpire Tim Welke said a pitch hit Carlos Pena’s bat with the bases loaded, ruling it a foul tip. Maddon unsuccessfully argued that Pena was hit by the pitch.
Tampa Bay failed to score when Pena and Rocco Baldelli(notes) struck out.
