This is a thread about Dirk... didn't say a word about Manu.
This is a thread about Dirk... didn't say a word about Manu.
Its funny because mav fan knows that the Mavs are likely to be kicked out early in the playoffs while spurfan is upstairs buying finals tickets.
I know a lot of guys in this league aren't the brightest, but I'm pretty sure they know to avoid fouling a guy on a fadeaway jumper time after time. I'd say the FTA's are more to to his ability to draw fouls/embelish contact than anything that opposing players are doing.
And yes, someone shooting a jumpshot can be fouled, but it doesn't happen very often. That's why coaches/fans get all riled up when it does.
Sarcasm fail.
this stupid post after realizing Dirk is taking 6 ft's per game? Nice one brah.
lol manu
crucify em / TREE of WOE
How many winning seasons have the Mavs had with Dirk? How many Finals appearances have the Mavs had with Dirk? How many 50 win seasons have the Mavs had with Dirk? Without Dirk, the Mavs would be the Expos of the NBA.
Just checked his FTAs per game in the last couple of years and they're all around 7. I was wrong. Don't know why I thought they were higher...maybe because he always takes so many against the Spurs.

Nowitzki doesn't really get as many calls as people think, when you compare him to other star players..
Kobe is the gold standard for jump shooting phantom fouls, and Dirk doesn't come close..you can say the same about Durant..84% off Kobe's shot attempts are jump shots outside the paint, yet he somehow draws 8 free throws a game..85% of Durant's shot attempts are jump shots, yet he draws 9 free throws a game..Nowtizki has 85% to 6 FTAs..
If you look at it from a career standpoint, the difference is even more significant..
Dirk gets his superstar calls, but he has never been on the phantom level of guys like Kobe and Durant..
As for the Spurs and Mavs, I'd be shocked if either is 1st round fodder, and they're the only 2 in the West that could potentially give LA a run..
this
and if he takes it to the basket he gets hacked and fouled a lot more without getting the call just because he is 7-0...
Dirk's awesome, what can you say. But he's not a leader, and that's why he'll never win a championship.
so true. Remember 06-07. They were unbeatable in the regular season.
best scorer yes. don't know about best player.
no he isn't.
the guy named dirk who led the mavs to the finals in '06 is not the dirk we're talking about right now.
also the dirk who leads his team in scoring almost every night since 2001 isn't the dirk we're talking about here..
this dirk right here will never be a leader, because he never was
in term of dirks efficiency: lol @ dwight howard almost having the same FG% as dirk, even though he scores most of his buckets on dunks and hook shots around the basket..and dirk is fading away on one leg around the freethrow line most of the time lol
Dallas has one thing going for them, the hot women that is plagued all over Dallas and their surrounding towns...
Indeed.
7' SG.

thats perspective also i think Houston got em...so your being nice lol
why do u all create threads like this early in the season?....maybe ask
Dirk Nowitzki is the best player in this season so far...
i see this topic wrong on so many levels....u said STLL<----lol@that
u said the League<----lol@that
u said best player<-----lmao@that one u shoulda said top or division or position not best player overall..time must prove this not current
last but not least u stated and not asked....
NO !!!!! he is not the best player...u need defense...leadership...clutch...high IQ...etc year after year ...Dirk doesnt pass everyone in the league just with those catagories
There has never been a "best player in the league" who didn't know how to play good defense.
Dirk is amazing and an MVP candidate but he's still a liability on defense, which means there's no way he's the best player in the league.
Had a huge block to help seal the win last night. He's the weak link, yes, but he's not terrible.
If he were a very good player on defense (maybe even a B or a B+), it would really help him. But as it stands, he's a C+ at best defensively from what I've seen. Hard for me to see him as an A+ player when he's got that big of a hole in his game. No disrespect, he's the best offensive player in the league IMO, but man, if he committed to being a great player on D he'd really shoot up on the list of all-time greats. Not sure if he's got the physical tools to excel on defense though.
Dirk is great but he is no Larry Bird -
Bird was tough, a true leader, and made championship deciding plays. Dirk needs at least one championship to ever be considered a true all time superstar, right now all is a scoring machine who has had stacked teams that always have come up short.
josh howard, jason terry and dampier is what you call stacked?
dirk no"rings"ki is not the best........................
