That's not even debatable. But there's more to it than that.
I'd rather 2004-2008 Kobe close out games than 2004-2008 Duncan, but that doesn't mean I'd rather build a team around Kobe.
Who would you rather close out a game, Dirk or KG?

I support this statement.
IMO he is already #2 though, behind Duncan and in front of Malone, KG, and others...
He has to be one of the hardest players in league history to defend... similar to prime Shaq, but in different fashion. His unstoppable offense makes up for his mediocre defense, and out of the top PFs ever, he has had the worst teams to carry.
With both at their primes.
I guess it depends on what you value.
I still think defense wins Championships. It's the reason the Spurs have those les. It's the reason they probably won't win anymore for a while. It's the reason the Mavs are winning right now. Tyson Chandler and Kidd's defense. You gotta be able to carry your team on both ends of the floor.
If you want to only consider offense, then there's no reason to talk about Dirk being the 2nd best PF. Forget PFs, Dirk is obviously one of the 5 best offensive players to ever play the game. There's never been a player with his skill set.
Neat argument, tbh, imho.
I'd def. start a team with 2004 KG over 2007 Dirk, but if we're talking legacies and how each one would be viewed, Dirk winning a ring this year with Jason Terry as the 2nd best player trumps anything KG has ever done.
remember that one time you said something off the wall like manu > Dirk?
Yeah, it was Manu's career > Dirk's career.
Who would you rather have close out a game Shaq or Ray Allen?
He probably still believes Manu > Dirk. Those Argentinians are bat crazy.
would you look at AF. With the gd soccer signature after The Shame.
If this don't beat it all.
Saying Manu's career > Dirk's career is like saying Tim Tebow's career > Dan Marino's career.
That's not God, that's Jesus.
Manu > Dirk
It's a surprise he hasn't made a ZBO > Dirk thread considering he's always looking for somebody to put up against Dirk. The German makes his panties twist in a weird way.
It's a front for the relationship Argentinians have had with a certain group of Germans in the past.
Yeah, it trumps anything KG has ever done, but it doesn't change their careers. It doesn't change their weaknesses and how they will be remembered. Dirk, for all his ability, only plays one side of the floor. He's also a 7-footer that has come as close as possible, but has never been able to grab 10 rpg in a season.
If dirk rebounded and played D, he'd mave multiple rings. Duncan, KG and Malone (for the most part) maximized their talent and effort on both ends of the floor over the course of their respective careers. Same can't be said for Dirk.
When I saw DAF's first post in here, I just knew he was going to up this thread. Nice job,
Dirk has played on both ends of the floor for years now. This isn't 2003.
Yeah, multiple Eurolegue, Olympic and NBA chamionships while beign the go to guy (or close to it) = a College trophy.
But don't change the subject, I'm here to discuss Dirk > Duncan, KG, Malone, etc.

Dirk doesn't rebound
He averages over 10 per game in the playoffs. For as much better of a rebounder KG is, he only musters .4 more per game than Dirk in the post season![]()
ball is about on the same level as college ball. Glad to see your coming around.
It's not my problem that I make Mavsfans assholes sore, I just noted how stupid Dirk4mvp argument was. And I would appreciatte if you don't call me a .
Dirk averaged 7 rpg the past two seasons.
