Dirk needs to step up and defend Bosh. Dallas can't afford having TC sucked out of the paint by Bosh's midrange game and racking up fouls due to his quickness, he needs to be down there for rebounding/help defense.
You can't risk Dirk being in foul trouble. That is the one thing for sure they can't overcome.

Dallas's defense wasn't the problem, it was the fact Dirk had a very important job to do and he failed: Rebound. It is absolutely pivotal that he hits the glass hard.

His offense was good, but he really did a poor job on the glass despite ending up with 8 boards.

Even if he puts more effort on the glass, Dirk still doesn't represent the prescence that Chandler does for opposing players slashing to the basket. I agree with DoK I would put Dirk on Bosh.

Dallas needs Chandler to be Chandler to have a chance.

To win finals it takes superstars who are great two way players. Until Dirk decides to defend and rebound like a big, Dallas will struggle vs MIA.
That might be true, but Nowitzki defending and rebounding better won't be enough to get Dallas over the hump against the Heat.

No not Dirk but TC. He had only 4 boards in 30 plus minutes and is definitely one of their better rebounders.

That's in part 'cause he had to defend Bosh out on the perimeter, and that happens 'cause Carlisle didn't want to put Dirk on Chris.
