Our new Van Horn.
the only amuzing thing from this trade?
LMAO TLONG
rudy be more of a than Mo williams imho and he only cost dem mavs a 26th, while da little ball hogger cost the clippers their #1 pick![]()
WE MF'N STACKED
o ye it'd be even perfecter if we could sign Mr. e to vet min and keep him healthy imho, ain't happening tho
If he stops with the "I wanna go home with my mommy" whinning the Mavs just made a of a deal, but something tells me that there's a reason why Portland let him go for just the 26th pick.
“So happy to be in the best team in the nba!!!dallas!!!” - Fernandez twitter.
I think he will be fine, especially since the starting spot is likely his to lose.
I would have liked to see what Jordan Hamilton could have became, but cant argue with this move either. The Mavs still have an open window to win, and getting a legit 2 guard who can score, shoot, and handle the ball, will be a nice thing. Not as strong of a defender as Stevenson, but a little quicker lateral movement, and better overall athlete than Deshawn. And he actually has size. Great fit for the starting lineup.
Mavs need to hope they can re-sign both Butler and Chandler. I definitely want Cardinal back, as while hes not a great regular season piece, hes a perfect backup for Dirk in the playoffs. I wouldn't mind JJB returning, but I think that they might need to consider just taking a risk and giving the backup PG job to Roddy.
PG - Kidd, Roddy
SG - Fernandez, Terry
SF - Butler, Marion
PF - Nowitzki, Cardinal
C - Chandler, Haywood
If Roddy plays at a decent level at least, and Kidd doesnt just give up now that hes gotten his ring, the Mavs have a great shot at another le run.
They should let go Cardinal go and have Marion back up both the three and the four in that case.
I agree about JJB. He's gonna command a hefty price tag that isn't worth it, teams are eventually gonna figure out how to defend him now that he's a known commodity who'll show up on scouting reports.
As big a Marion hater as I am, I think it'd be in nuts for Dallas to hand the starting SF job to Butler after how important Marion was for them last season. In a bench, 20-25 MPG role Butler would thrive, but Marion has more than earned the starting SF role. Idk how they could convince him to happily move back to the bench after last season.
Fernandez was a good move, but IMO it'd be stupid to hand him the starting job. I've never seen a team that had so much chemistry on offense where everyone knew his role and knew when to/not to shoot before Dallas, it'd be stupid to it up. Fernandez and Butler off the bench would be sick since they wouldn't dig Dallas' starters a huge hole like their bench did at times in the playoffs, but Stevenson and Marion deserve to be starters.
Pretty good pickup for a draft choice. If one 3 point shooter goes cold, plenty more to choose from on the bench.
Somehow the Spurs couldn't get a first rounder for Scola, but at least Houston took Butler and his contract.
I like Rudy and hope he does well for you. He's a moody euro though. If he's not happy he plays like . He'll be good for your female fanbase. The women love him.
Exactly.
I'm not going to sit here and go down on Mark Cuban, but this was an awesome move and it came out of nowhere.
I agree about Marion, he probably should be starting over Butler, and for the sake of team chemistry, it would probably be better to do that. Butler has no reason to request to be a starter, and would accept being a bench player better than Marion would I'm sure. In fact, it's probably better for Butler to be off the bench, especially when Dirk is out of the game, it provides another scorer off the bench to provide spacing and explosive scoring punch.
It would be hard to do that with Stevenson though, unless the Mavs intend to use Terry as backup PG now, because then that would give them 3 SGs to rotate with. Fernandez is a much better basketball player than Stevenson. And I think Fernandez would fit in with the starting unit just fine. Dude is a Euro, and likely already understands the importance of passing and ball-movement. He might not be quite as good defensively as Stevenson, but his ability to make an opponent work on both ends, and his ability to move without the ball, is something Stevenson could not do (unless it involved getting a wide open 3 off a double-team or something).
Of course, we will just have to wait and see, but I would have no issue at all giving Fernandez the starting SG spot, with Terry remaining at 6th man.
He's a moody, soft ass diva. But he can ball. TyChan, Dirk and Terry will probably ride his ass, and I think it'll help get the most out of him. He's a lot more versatile than people think. I always wanted the Spurs to get him.
Rudy and JJ are gunna be a pain for the opposing team to contain. Great move by the Champs.
PS- Mavs are gunna have a lot of Spanish Speaking fans now. Which is great for their fan base.
Wonder how they manage the minutes or who they won't resign. Great problem to have tbh
You would like that wouldn't you.:
Rudy Fernandez starting? No way. Stevenson is starting. Stevenson is a way better defender than Fernandez and Fernandez shot horribly in the playoffs this year. (2.8 ppg and 22% from the field)
You already proved you are a stupid that knows jack about basketball.
Stevenson was nice, but Fernandez is a MUCH better basketball player, and a better fit for the Mavs than Stevenson. They finally have a legit SG for the first time since Michael Finley. He's not as strong defensively, but hes not just atrocious either. But his offensive contributions is what will be most useful. Dude is a great spot-up shooter (something he will get lost of in the Mavs system), can put the ball on the floor and get to the hoop/dish, and can play off the ball and get easy buckets with slashing. He can even give solid minutes running point. High IQ player.
If the Mavs resign both Butler and Chandler, Fernandez will be an absolutely perfect fit for the Mavs. And if they can actually be healthy heading into the playoffs, they have a shot to make another serious run.
depending on money, they can still pretty much keep most of the team together, and if things go wrong, they can revert back to what worked this year
Kidd, Barea, Roddy
Fernandez, Terry, Jones
Marion, Butler, Stevenson, Brewer
Nowitzki, Cardinal
Chandler, Haywood, Mahinmi
In essence, they have a chance to sport nearly the same exact roster, but with a healthy Roddy, healthy Butler, and adding Fernandez. I'd be happy to go into the season with this group, even though I'm sure they will not keep all these guys, and other moves will be made.
Good pick for the Mavs. If he's motivated and has a defined role in the team unlike what happened in Portland, he will no doubt contribute. He's a good player.
