Neither psychology or sociology are ty degrees on their own. Its the fact that so many people get them with no real plan or an idea of what they really want to do with them. No degree is good if you don't know what you want to do with it.

That being said, people who are willing to go to grad school and do appropriate work with those degrees like Ashbeigh and Pego are making use of them and the degree is certainly not worthless to them.

On the whole, I do tend to question someone getting a psychology degree. One of the people I hired to work at the office I worked at recently was a girl with a degree in psychology. She thought she was hot and yet the only job she could get was working front desk for a small optometry practice. She had the nerve to ask for a raise after a few weeks based on her degree. Needless to say, she didn't last long. People like that with psychology degrees are pretty insane.

I agree that it is a simple task, but sanding them is a pain in the ass.

I've seen people re-tile whole bathrooms (when I live with my grandparents, our bathroom was remodeled) and it doesn't look like fun. I just wouldn't want to have to cut, measure and sand the whole thing. In high school I did a lot of work with saws and wood (not in wood shop though) so I have no problem with that. Just don't want to with tiles though. I'll learn and mess with wiring too.

She didn't spend her money on a degree, she spent her parents money on a degree. Then she used that degree to get an entry level management job that just required a bachelors degree and worked up from there. Last time I talked to her she was doing quite well. I have a friend who got a civil engineering degree from there. I'm not sure how good the school is but its still an engineering degree and I'm sure UTSA has a reputable degree plan.
