Goal.com claims that Wenger may enter his final season with Arsenal:
    http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/...e-is-preparing

Well, as great a coach as he is, maybe a change wouldn't be that bad. Arsenal might very well have to face years now in which finishing in the top four is going to be very difficult.

Cesc is finally gone, it seems. It's very sad to see him leave, but I won't hold it against him. He is now probably entering the best years of his career, and being one of the better offensive midfielders in the world, it is very understandable that he wants to be able to play for silverware year in and year out, which frankly is not very likely currently at Arsenal. And of course, Barca is the club where he grew up.
I guess that Nasri will be leaving as well, and fans will not be as sympathetic in this case, especially if he is going to Man City. Both Cesc and Nasri leaving will definitely weaken the club, but, probably even worse, it will be a sign that Arsenal are not able to hold players of that caliber as they simply don't have the money nor the perspective to offer players of that ink.
Still, with Wilshere and Ramsey continuing to develop as nicely as they have done so far, van Persie in the stellar form of the final period of last season (and maybe even staying healthy for once) and new players like Miyaichi and Gervinho likely to have an impact right away, the offense will probably still be strong enough for Arsenal to be compe ive.
But they just have to buy a starting caliber CB. Vermaelen is good, but the others are more backup-type players. Even with Jagielka or Cahill alongside Vermaelen, the central defense won't be as good as those of Man Utd. or Chelsea or Man City, but it would be a start.

^Mata/Jadson won't be coming to Arsenal, Mata (probably) because Arsene drug his goddamn feet too much.

    Joel Campbell was indeed signed

Great to have Vermaelen in the back and ready to play.

Can Van Persie stay healthy this year? (yeah, right)

Gervinho should debut, looking forward to seeing how he fits with the regulars

Would love to see them come out and stomp Newcastle!!!!!! Go Gunners!

MAN U may beat West Brom 5-0 or worse tomorrow

I'll try and find a stream of the Arsenal game, but at least I can fall back on the ESPN tilt to get my fix

Not at home so I don't have FSC, which sucks

With a CL tie these next couple weeks, Liverpool next weekend, no replacement for their captain (who literally picked up his ball and went home), this could be a pretty disastrous start to the season for Arsenal.

Gervinho basically got screwed for retaliating, he could have at least got sent off for a punch instead of a slap

    Barton though, little

    They've played pretty well, actually

Gervinho looks a lot better than I thought he would. Very comfortable, very active. He was also putting himself in great position for much of the game.

Walcott not playing until the second half hurt, Arshavin missed some really good opportunities that Theo probably wouldn't have

    Defense was serviceable.

Just need to convert the opportunities.

well no , we all knew that before the season even started. The team wasn't even championship material with Fab and Nasri.

GK and defense has to be addressed

midfield will get better when Wilshere and Diaby get back

Wow, I know you had 10 men but Arsenal couldn't even score against Newcastle. Gonna be a long season for you Gunners.

lol, the team literally did not any address any of the issues that led to their 2nd half collapse last season, then lost 2 of their top 3 players. Anyone expecting anything better than a 4-7 place finish coming into this season was delusional.

That would be pretty much every Arsenal fan over here lol. Arsenal need to finish in the top 4, if they can't get into the Champions League next year (or even Europe) they are gonna lose a ton of money.

Just saw the full highlights of the game.

Barton went OTT and should of been sent off, but Song blatantly stamped on Barton which was disgusting IMO.
