    The ACL is not really perfectly in the anterior portion of the knee. Its more like in the middle, slightly anterior, but connects from lateral condyle of femur to medial intercondylar eminence of the tibia.



    tl;dr A valgus force (ie kicking someone's knee from the outside) is the type of force that will damage MCL/ACL together due to anatomy.
