I can't see any team remaining beating the Spurs 4 times.

People are nervous because it's difficult to trust what our eyes see. We see the same core that has just not had it in recent years. We see the newest youngest talented group waiting for the Spurs after they just wasted two big names.
I get Bynum being a big name, but Gasol at his age?

I think the Spurs haven't even played their best basketball in the first two rounds. It seems like they've been just cruising, playing at a moderate level, and winning easily (with the occasional challenge, but a few minutes of pressure and we win again).

If the Spurs put their game into top gear, they will dispatch the Thunder in 5 games.

Different fans handle this kind of success in different ways. Some get y and love it all in the moment. Some fans, like timvp and tesseractive, get squeamish, nervous, and scared. Count me among the nervous group.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be trash talking and be on a euphoric high and absolutely living this up, and part of me is. I'm loving the way this team is playing, and I'm watching the games in awe and respect and giddy fandom.

The nervous part is the part that knows it's all too easy for something to go wrong, that something could derail this team. The nervous part is the part that has seen how successful flying under the radar can be, so why would we want the hype now?

And above all, the nervous part is the part that REALLY wants this championship for this team. Yes, we Spurs fans are spoiled, and should be thanking our lucky stars that we have 1 championship, much less 4. But I really want this 2012 championship for this team. This team that has come together and played basketball the right way and turned back the clock.

It's like one of those cliche sports movies where the team of outcasts and has beens makes a run at the championship, and by the end of the movie you want to see them win it all. In those movies, the team usually wins, but once in a blue moon they don't. It's that once in a blue moon that makes us nervous. So yes, I'll enjoy every minute of this playoff run, but the nerves sure as heck aren't going to disappear until after the final buzzer of the final game.

I mean, this has been an AWESOME run. And since I thought the Spurs had like a 1% shot to win a championship pre-RJ trade, I'm obviously overjoyed by their current chances. I'm enjoying this season more than any other, tbh, and even if the Spurs get eliminated I'd still look back fondly at this stretch of games.

But damn, it's literally this core's last chance to win a championship. A fifth ring would be such a great accomplishment. Pardon me for caring, fwiw.
