lol they suspended play due to rain

    Roland Garros centre court
    Arthur Ashe stadium
    no retractable roof

I know you're trolling but I thought this was interesting so just FYI:

The Roland Garros stadium will be completely rebuilt in 2015.
The city of Paris owns the stadium and the French Tennis Federation has been lobbying hard for years for a better venue for the French Open (even threatened to go away from Paris).

The problem is that Roland Garros is by far the smallest venue of any of the Grand Slam tournaments. They simply do not have the room to improve gradually (ie build a new center court and then demolish the existing one and build something else in its place and so on). A partial modernization of the existing central court would be throwing money away since it needs a complete rebuilt and not just refurbishing because it is simply too outdated.

Even the new courts in 2015 may not have roofs (or may not be used during the grand slam) because the changing conditions of the play due to the humidity of the clay are part of the characteristics of the game. Players have to change and adapt to the surface constantly over a 4 hours match even if weather conditions are stable. This is what completely messed up Nadal's game today (although the changing conditions today were exceptionally strong - I was surprised they didn't call it a day earlier).

And how the did Sasha Vujacic land Sharapova anyway ...
When Sasha was mentioned during the match, I knew that someone on ST would ask this question.

I have no problem with Nadal's win, but I was rooting for a fifth set.
