I understand pikkiwoki's point, but ya, Frank Vogel isn't exactly a good example..he made an abundance of coaching errors vs. Miami, particularly going away from Hibbert and West on a regular basis..
Frank Vogel is also terrible.

Hibbert is softer than Yao Ming tho
I've had one , was able to walk fine and I didn't
Cry like he did.
I'll bump this for further discussion about Video Coordinator.
Did he grow up as a coach during the Finals? Or did Lebron save his job?
Fire Mike Brown! Fire D'Antoni! We want Phil!

Usually, the coach is to blame but since the Heat have so many superstars and they won a ship, Spoelstra isn't going to get the blame.
Spoelstra is one of the worst coaches in the NBA, as I've been saying for years..his defensive system is easy to exploit and he doesn't have an offensive system..
Miami cannot win without Lebron, Wade and Bosh playing 110% every night(the effort they provide during the playoffs), which is the reason they have not been a dominant regular season team in the 3 Kings era, tbh..they don't have a system to rely on, along with the lack of power up front..
I was buying into him after reading about his "pace and space" system and how he went hard back to the drawing board after the 2011 defeat, but he's looked clueless this series. Yes, his roster is gassed, his PGs are terrible, but you also have to give credit to the Spurs for tiring them out.
And watching video breakdowns, the offense runs their system for like two possessions and then falls back into iso-ball centered around Lebron.
What do you know.
But mid, the national commentators, ESPN, and the like, all say that Spo is a great coach!![]()
You could have Horse run the Heat over the past couple years and still win a le; but once actual basketball related thinking comes into play, he'll get exposed. Like Spooby and Brooks and Rivers.
Despite winning 2 les and leading Miami to 4 straight NBA finals, the coach is still the reason for their downfall this year?
Ever thought of the fact that Popovich and his system are just far superior to Spoelstra's?
You can insert Phil Jackson in this squad and he's not going to rally Miami to a le this year. Lebron is not even dominating as we're all accustomed to see from him. The whole roster looks gassed, possibly due to fatigue.
It's just not Spo this time around tbh.
His system is superior, however he hasn't learned to manage minutes thru the season like Pop has. They were so concerned with getting the 1 seed they played huge minutes in the off season. Also the coach doesn't control the players, its the other way around. Pop tells his players to get on the bench to conserve minutes and don't question, where as the Heat players think they know better. Not to mention the Heat weren't even challanaged against any of the east matchups.
That turned out to be a ty matchup.
The latter tbh. No true gauge for making adjustments because they bought their team turnkey.
