Curb side grocery service? I don't remember that. Richer!
I remember it. I think the baskets were numbered. That was back when they used to use those double decker carts to bag your groceries, as opposed to the regular cart you put your stuff in as you walk around the store.

    Remember these?

The main things I remember are when different stores were located in places than what is there now.

I remember the HEB at Callaghan and Bab , and the Food City at Hillcrest and Bab .

All the stores that used to be on Bandera inside the loop-- Sears, Piggly Wiggly, Gibsons's.

The places on Fredericksburg like Kress was inside the loop and Gulf Mart (later Shopper's World) outside the loop where the Graham's is now.

I think Fed Mart was at Vance Jackson and 410 where it turned into a Target and now the Academy.

I know we all saw movies at the Wonder Theatre (Dave and Buster's); the theatre in North Star Mall; the theatre behind Central Park; and the "new" theatre inside Ingram Park Mall!

    Earl Holliman's Dinner Theater

I don't know if dinner theaters exist anymore, they were kind of a 70's kitschy concept.
I went to see one show there, I guess it was a memorable experience, because I still remember the play was Arsenic and Old Lace.

The "star" was Elisha Cook Jr, perhaps one of the most prolific character actors in Hollywood history. You probably don't know the name, but if you grew up in the 70's & 80's you're likely to remember the face.

I seem to recall one near Castle Hills, that was later turned into a craft store. Also on the southside where my grandparents lived.

Do you remember this game from Handy Andy?
I remember not only Handy Andy, but Handy Dan, long before even Builders' Square even existed, much less Lowe's or Home Depot.

That and the old Judson 4 Drive in. I saw the original Star Wars there.

    Good times.

Handy Dan at 410/Vance Jackson, iirc

People in retail that have to work on Sundays in Texas can thank Handy Dan.

Winn's was awesome. When we would walk in, I would immediately go to the toy section and spend what felt like hours there. I would just have to do the check-in with her every so often and go back to the toys. I spent the whole time trying to build up the courage to ask my mom for one. She would always say, "No! Put it back!"

One store I hated my mom dragging me to was Cloth World....BOOOORRRRINNNG!!! It was on 410 and Marbach. Sometimes she would let me stay in the car, with vinyl seats, no ac, while she shopped. Can you imagine leaving kids in the car today?

What ever happened to Wyatts Cafeteria? Was a carbon copy of Luby's. There was one on the corner of 410 and bab or callaghan.

As I recall, the first grocery store to have an in-store liquor store, California style.
Fedmart was a pioneer in the no-frills discount shopping space:

Your right Blake. I lived about a block from this Piggly Wiggly. There was a Kowasaki dealership next to it I believe.

I believe they are. The one on 1604/Stone Oak has been closed for about 5 years I think. Not sure but I think I may have heard that the chain was a casualty of an UGLY divorce. I really liked that place.
