It's all about puttin asses in the seats. And Scola was going to be amnestied anyway Lin or not.
son you may be joking, but only a fool would think that these teams interested in Lin are only interested in his on the court performance. the Rockets could find numerous guards for less than $4 million a year right now to fill the role and do a decent job, but Lin sells tickets and brings media attention so they will pay him for that reason. some may say they are "overpaying him", but I'm sure all of the extra revenue and media and foreign attention he brings will be worth it.
I mean Houston would probably still pay Yao to sit on the bench if they knew it would sell their jerseys in China.
Son, considering how many tickets he sells for the Clippers, is monkeyball overpaid at almost 20mil a year?
and sons to be quite frank ... Houston sports fans need something to go see other than a potential no-hitter every night by the visiting team AGAINST that joke of a MLB team the Astros.
Son, God Bless You.
son I'm not a fan by any means, but I believe Griffin is worth the money. If I had to break down his $20 million per year worth ...
On the Court Performance - $8M
Off the Court Media Attention/Ticket & Merchandise Revenue - $12M
say what you want, but Griffin is in every other car and Subway commercial and brings in a lot of money for the Clippers.
Yeah, you won't get anywhere in the NBA if you don't either sell shoes or play for a big-market team.
Plus the combination of Griffin and Paul has changed the Clippers from a long-running joke into a playoff team and a legitimate destination for free agents. That has tremendous value.
Son, I agree. Hopefully Davis shuts his ass down when the season starts.
Everytime Griffin goes for a highlight reel dunk I bet Davis goes in and swats it.
sons Griffin don't want to come down here. last time he was here both Kaman and J-Smith stomped his ass out. even that dude Beli got a flagrant foul on thuggin-n-buggin Kenyon Martin that game...
NO MONKEYBALLING HERE !
"Clippers Stung by Hornets 97-90"
Ah, it all makes sense now. Morey has Boston roots, working for the Celtics, going to MIT. He doesn't care about the Rockets, he's just out to stick it to NYC no matter what. Knicks going match any offer for Lin? lol how bout a 3 yr contract that can cost you $40M in luxury tax in one year. Nets gonna trade for Dwight? lol that we'll trade our whole team for him.
I imagine Morey is in a luxury suite in Vegas smoking cigars with Big Papi, Brady and Matt Damon laughing their ass off watching Sportscenter right now.
If they let Lin go they are in morons.. The fans love him, he is box office.. Melo will never EVER lead them to a chip he is not good enough so putting guys around him you think may fit better is almost pointless as well..
He's not a great player...
if he has a great year in houston we're gonna see the noisy return of them fans who're been mute for years since yao went broke in 09, and there will come along big incomes in commercial, broadcast rights etc... those "rockets fans" will return to lick their hero's , regardless of how many games the team wins
From the NY Times today:
It has been widely assumed that the Knicks would match Houston’s offer and keep Lin, despite a salary increase to $14.9 million in the third year of the deal. Team officials have said as much for weeks, both before and after the Rockets made the offer.
Two reports late Saturday cast doubt on that assumption. The first came via the Twitter account of a South Carolina television reporter, Mark Haggard, who said that Felton had told him that the Knicks planned to let Lin leave for Houston. A short time later, Yahoo Sports reported that Lin “appears close” to joining the Rockets, in light of Felton’s deal.
If he has a great year in Houston it's gonna be worse than that. ESPN give Lin the Tebow treatment.
sons again the bottom line for Houston is that this is good business ... God damn good business.
Unless Lin s the bed like we all half expect him to.

It is "highly doubtful" NY will match Jeremy Lin's offer sheet with HOU, source tells Y! Sports. NY likely to wait 3 days before declining.
And Griffin has been a 20/10 guy since minute 1 in the league, and he isn't even a polished or complete player yet...
It is for its size. You only posted the city Chinese populations anyway. Houston is only behind nyc, la, and the bay area for Asians pop.
Lin has not shown the ability to be able to play off the ball when the ball is in the hands of Anthony or Stoudamire. Kidd, even at his age, will get these guys in the right position. With the team as it is structured, the Knicks are better off without Lin.
Houston will simply get crushed if they are not able to get Bynum or Howard with or without Lin and as a result Lin, facing a lot of double teams will be considered a bust due to the allstar expectations.
