When i saw tori at the majestic some Emo chode opened for her not a girl

It was some white dude on acoustic guitar and these chicks kept trying to go up to him on stage and they got escorted away hahahaha
I wasn't talking about the guy who opened. I was talking about the girl who kept going up to the stage, as you were referring to. She was trying to get him to come over to her and then stood there and flipped him off when he wouldn't oblige. It really pissed him off. Pissed me off too. What an idiot.

I don't give a what headphones you have... they will never tough a pair of top end speakers ($15k+) pushed by a nice amp ($2k+).

Since Manny only has an Aiwa boombox, I guess you are right though.

I disagree, I think that headphones really allow you to be totally enveloped in the music - and this is coming from someone with good Bose speakers hooked up to my receiver.

Dude theres no way you can tell me listening to Smashing Pumpkins Adore on your high end speakers can let you experience that album better than on a pair of heavy headphones. Theres just no ing way. You'd have to do some serious twinking to be able to hear all the slight low tracks behind each song, and even then it would ruin the quality overall cuz the main stuff would sound like . With heavy headphones its all just right there, its like those big ass expensive speakers are inside of your head and you can hear everything as it was meant to be heard.

The same applies to TOOL cd's

I have to agree with the headphone thought.
To really get enveloped in an album you have to have a kickass pair of giant old fashioned headphones. It's liek a portal to anther world.
It not only surrounds you in the music but it shuts out all other sounds.

Having a top of the line stereo system and the ability to turn up the volume achieves the same effect.

Go look at the dynamic response ratings for the best pair of headphones you can find, and I'll beat them.

Just because your favorite food is a BigMac, doesn't mean it's the worlds best burger. The same is true with speakers. Obviously, what sounds good to some will sound different to others. Dynamic frequency response ratings are the only truely objective measure.

    Lateralus still sucks.

What is your idea of high end speakers? I suspect you've never actually heard good speakers.

Yeah, you just continue being an asshole so you can parade around your $12k speakers there, buddy. In the meantime, I still maintain that headphones envelope you in the music more - if for no other reason than proximity to your ears.

And just because I didn't drop $12k on a speaker set does not mean that I don't know what I'm talking about. So take your Big Mac and shove it.

I don't have $12k speakers either - but that doesn't mean they aren't better than headphones.

You can maintain anything you like, but that doesn't have any relevance towards objective statistics.

As for promimity to your ears... I'd put it this way: I think a big screen HDTV looks better from 15 feet away than a $100 13" TV from 3 feet away.

As for favorite Tool song ... I really do love Lateralus still. If I had to pick a favorite (which is hard enough) that would be it - though I do really love Sober as well. I would say Vacant because the lyrics are incredible, but it's technically not a Tool song, and it's only been done once live - I was lucky enough to have a friend send me the MP3 - it's supposed to be a Tapeworm Project track ... but that never has fruitioned. Maynard's deliverance of it was awesome.
From what I understand, A Perfect Circle took this song and put it on the "Thirteenth Step" record. It is now called "Blue". I wasn't fortunate enough to hear the original Tapeworm version so I don't know how different it is.

Jekka, does it sound remotely similar?

Blue is a totally different song - they recorded something like Vacant on the cover/political album they did after Thirteenth Step - it's called Passive, but it had a different le and sounded really different - a friend played it for me, and I didn't even recognize it immediately.

I've listened to this song about a million times and I still find a new message coming from these lyrics everytime and thats why I think Maynard is genius and this song kicks ass. I guess everyone can find something in his lyrics that they can relate too.

Arizona bay, can you imagine a better world without Califas?

Okay guys, i am now officially back to believing The Patient is the Best TOOL song ever.

Is this a test? It has to be. Otherwise I can't go on.
    Draining patience.
    Drain vitality.
    This paranoid,
    paralyzed,
    vampire acts a little old........

And i'm still pissed they did not play The Patient on tuesday, november 12, 2002, at the freeman coliseum in San antonio, tx.

Come on, what about Ticks and Leeches? That song is FANTASTIC - danny at his best. The only downside is that they cant play it live, because when they recorded it, maynard so destroyed his voice that they agreed never to play it live. My favourite though is Jimmy, without a doubt. I love it. But other than that (and the rest of their catalogue, of course) my favourites are:

    Jimmy,
    Ticks and Leeches,
    Third Eye,
    Aenema,
    Pu ,
    Eulogy,
    H,
    The Grudge,
and lastly their cover of Led Zepplins, 'No Quarter' - one of the best cover songs EVER.
