speaking of BRSwampDog, timvp is gonna have to change all those hornet-inspired usernames to Pelican, especially if Charlotte starts using the Hornets name.
IMO, it's a pretty ty logo... although I bet BRPelican is going like this right now...

Tbh, I like it. That main logo is a bit busy but it could have been a lot worse when trying to incorporate a pelican.
9/10
I can't believe there is actually going to be a team in the NBA named the "Pelicans."
I didn't realize Pelicans were sexual tbh..
I got the crossdressing vibe from that pic, too (assuming that that is what you are talking about).
"New Orleans Pelicans" doesn't exactly dance off the tongue. I assume sooner or later they try to abbreviate it like the "Mavs," "Cavs," or "D-backs."
Nola P-cans?
They can't have our state tree.
Bobcats might take back the Hornets iden y:

So with this and the Kings move to Seattle, we could have both the Charlotte Hornets and the Seattle SuperSonics back in the NBA next year. That's pretty sweet. Now we need Alonzo Mourning and Detlef Schrempf to team up together in an odd-couple buddy cop movie. One's a proud black man from the inner city, while the other's a socially-awkward German adjusting to life in the States. Together they have to team up to take on the evil Dr. Jerry Buss...Oddballs, coming Fall 2013 to a theater near you.The Bobcats have hired Harris Interactive "to survey both current Bobcats customers and the general Charlotte sports market" about a possible name change to Hornets, according to Rick Bonnell of the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. The Hornets today will announce they are changing their nickname...
The main logo is all right. The "bird-de-lis" is super-forced.
I think it might look better if they chose a different color scheme. I'm thinking a two-tone color scheme with the same dark blue and maybe a grey/silver. Gold just doesn't work for me. And I like the simplicity of just two colors.
the 90's are back
Now if the Magic would bring the pinstripe jerseys back

The Pelis (Pell-ees)
I was thinking the same.
Its not the pink one that others have posted...... Here is the official press release:
BENSON FAMILY UNVEILS NEW ORLEANS PELICANS COLORS AND LOGOS
Team to take on new brand iden y representative of New Orleans, Gulf South
New Orleans Hornets Owner Tom Benson announced today that at the conclusion of the 2012-13 season, the name of the team will become the New Orleans Pelicans. A name that will represent the culture and resolve of the Gulf Coast region while also symbolizing Louisiana's most pressing initiative of coastal restoration and wildlife conservation. Benson introduced the team's new logos, as well as color scheme, during the announcement.
The team will use and remain under the name New Orleans Hornets until the end of the 2012-13 season.
Perseverance and renewal have been hallmarks of our community's resurgence and the Pelican's remarkable recovery closely matches that of the Gulf South Region. The Pelicans will be more than a namesake for the franchise, as New Orleans, the State of Louisiana and the Gulf South have a rich history connected to the name. Represented on Louisiana's state flag and seal, the Pelican has been the state bird for over a century. The Pelican symbolizes the determination to not only survive, but thrive even when the odds are stacked against them as our region has demonstrated over and over.
"When we purchased the basketball team, it was a priority to change the name to reflect our culture, our community and our resolve. The Pelican does that," said Owner Tom Benson. "Our region has been hard hit in recent years and the one thing that stands out is the resiliency and determination to comeback, to fight and overcome. The Pelican symbolizes that. The synergy of this name, this bird and the future of our state and region are intertwined and in three, five, ten years from now, it will be not only be a name of a sports franchise but it will also be the face of the continued recovery of our region. We will promote healthy habitats, not only for our youth but for our community, our coast and our wildlife. The Pelican name will do that. It is more than a name. It represents our way of life."

Holy that is hilarious.![]()
At least they didn't steal the Spurs color scheme.
Seriously, it looks pretty good all told. I'd probably skip the gold as well, but all things considered, it's a solid B / B+.
