Well, he doesn't have to spend it. Doesn't mean the money isn't there.

Apparently you can forget about seeing women priests, a change on contraceptive stance or priests being allowed to marry. He's a good proselytizer by all accounts though!

Well women wont become priests or priests be allowed to marry even with the youngest of cardinals there, so I dont know why this is even discussed.

    Or I should say:

Which cardinal would have fought to change all 3 of these items.

He's not even going to see it. If any money is given to him, it goes to the Society of Jesus.

Trump doesn't 'see' the money either, that doesn't mean he has no control over it. He's the Pope. If he wants the Vatican Bank to unload money somewhere, it happens. Just like the last Pope put in control some buddy from Germany in control of the bank.

Trump controls all the purse strings even in his trusts, tbh.

When you are in a religious order, the superiors of the order control all the purse strings. Generally, your rank within the church has nothing to do with heirarchy within said order. At least from my own personal experience.

All he is doing is regurgitating the 'stewardship' divine right bull so you can claim poverty but still take cash. I don't take the money; I am just steward over it for God.

In theory, priests being able to be married is fine. Its existed in church history. In practice, I dont see it as being practical. Mostly due to the massive requirements being a Catholic priest requires of you.

I dont see a man being able to fully devote all of his energies to both:

    1. Pastoral duties
    2. Family duties

    One WILL suffer.

I'll give you this example: Johnny is sick and you are at home watching him. The wife is also sick and you are taking care of them. Mrs. Jones calls saying, Mr. Jones is on his death bed and would like last rights.

Someone suffers. Which does the priest place priority over. You cannot devote yourself 100% to both church being on call 24/7 and to family when you are essentially on call 24/7 also.

As far as the women priesthood, its a murkier subject because its never been done. Considering there have been numerous bans on women priests, including by both John Paul II and Benedict XVI, there are theological questions as to whether or not its even possible, no matter what Cardinal Policarpo may believe himself.

Then on the last question, I get the Catholic Church stance on contraception. Whether its something to ever be changed, we'll see. I think of the three, its the most likely to occur, with married priests a very distant second and women priests something at less than a .01 % chance of happening.
