Cory Joseph
Patty Mills
Nando De Colo
Manu Ginobili
No one. Parker'll be back for the Pistons.
Even though Manu is a shooting guard rather than a point guard, I Pop goes with Manu starting with Green. Then DeColo or Joseph off the bench for the second squad. If we are going to try to maintain some decent positioning for the playoffs, we need Manu's ball handling and passing skills in the first set. He has to be the one. We have no hope against some of the opponents we are going to face with either Neal or Joseph at the starting point.
The issue for me is how long Manu can last without getting hurt again himself if he is in the starting lineup. But he is the best ball handler. He has essentially been playing point guard for the second squad. So he will be playing out of position one way or another.
I hope Pop realizes he has to win games more than play around with his rotations as he has been doing. Play around with the backup point position if you want, but put Manu on the point to start.
No brainer, imo.

BBM: I don't think so in this case because Blair's coming off the bench. If our frontcourt is going to be at a disadvantage on the defensive end and our backcourt isn't going to be much better (Neal, Mills, CoJo, De Colo, etc), then they need either Manu or Splitter playing with the second unit in order to make it work because Blair + Diaw/Bonner won't get it done without some offensive or defensive production.
Anyways, I figure De Colo should be starting if Parker's going to be out. I don't trust Mills at all to run the point and while CoJo's improved, I'd rather go with the surer thing at this point and make subs as needed. Plain and simple.
^^ Most likely. He'll probably have the ball in his hands when closing games so I think Pop has more options at his disposal when it comes to choosing his backcourt players.
Cojo as de Colo's backup. Play Neal with Manu when he returns. Pop was playing de Colo with Tony, what the was that about.
Tony Parker's success this year has been shadowed all season by the often confusing backup point guard, or what appears to be the lacking of. Wait a minute, isn't that the position that Cory Joseph, Patty Mills and Nando de Colo are rostered at? Let the Spurs ride these guys in the point minutes and at the end of the year if they can't get it done, get rid of their asses. Sure, Manu and Neal can fill in in spots, but thinking the team can ride Ginobili for 30 plus minutes a game at PG for the next month, plus change, could only render him damn near if not completely broken for this year's playoff run, which I still consider formidable, and sure as more important than this next month. Please, will the real Spurs' fans stand up, and rid the crowd of these "it's time for Timmy and Manu to step up" bunch of teeth chattering pussies. Glad Pop doesn't read this . Duncan and Ginobili are tired, old, and doing all they can. Somebody else has to carry the load.
Blair would be a good choice.![]()
Nando will start. When patty/cojo/neal get 2nd string minutes, expect Manu to hold their hands.
I feel like De Colo will play better with the starter than with the second unit
This is a little off topic, but do you guys think we would've gone after Aaron Brooks if we played the Kings on Thursday and TP got hurt then? Or were the Rockets a lock for him? Back to the topic, I'm not sure about starting De Colo. He is so slow and the game might be too fast for him at this stage as a starter. He has his role with the team, for sure, but I'd rather see CoJo get a crack at the spot or even Mills, who has the speed at least.
I know CJ hasn't play that much but I he looked pretty good in the Kings game so I say give him a shot....
would be awesome if TP came back that soon....but will see what happens
Start Manu at SG and Joseph at PG.
Nope. Last three games, Mills was given the backup role, and played minutes in all the quarters.
If spurs are serious about giving cojo a legit shot a back up then they would start him but that's depending on whether or no they feel he's ready after the kings game.
Did they see potential or immaturity? ...foul prone...

This feels like 2010 again with TP goes down with an injury and Manu not playing that well. Hopefully Manu can recreate what he did then.
Manu needs to play more and take more of the ball handling responsibilities
15 assists in 22 minutes.![]()
That will be Neal and how he did it in 11-12
I love that Cojo will get some playing time. He has great defensive intensity. Even though he picked up 5 quick fouls the other night, Pop will take that over a lax defender that cannot guard the pick and roll.
Have to keep our passing efficiency up to par while Parker is out:
San Antonio Spurs
Art Garcia
+ Trust Team Efficiency getting better, Spurs are passing fancy
The Spurs handed out a season-high 41 assists in their last game, led by Manu Ginobili’s career-high 15 dishes. The last time the Silver and Black had 40-or-more assists in a game came on 11/7/90 vs. Denver when San Antonio dished out 42 assists.
Ginobili filled up the box score with a career-high 15 assists, 9 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Ginobili’s 15 dishes were the most by a Spurs player off the bench since John Lucas handed out a Spurs-record 24 assists vs. Denver on 4/15/84.
"He did have a great game as a 2 guard," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "To have 15 assists is pretty impressive. I thought he was great in that regard. He let the game come to him. He played a really solid game."
The Spurs also shot a season-high 60.7 percent (51-84) from the floor in the 130-102 rout of Sacramento. San Antonio fell two points shy of a season high.
Hmm looks like I'll be the lone voice for Mills getting the nod. He has shown he can consistently put up points where Nando hasnt. He'll also have Green to help spearhead the faciltating duties. Duncan, Splitter, & Khawi are more than enough to make up any of Patty's defensive lapses. CJ is too inexperienced at this point but I could see him getting his chance next season.
Any announcement yet on who's getting the nod?
