Jimbo doesn't have the balls..Besides it's a losing proposition...if your paying Kobe 30 million and he's single-handedly bringing in 80 mill alone (confirmed) you'd essentially be throwing away a 50 + million dollar profit... getting rid of Gasol , Nash and Metta is the answer

I dont see how an amnesty on Kobe would mean anything besides saving money.
No other team will pick him up in my scenario, he is injured and cant play.
If Kobe doesn't like the idea that the team saves money he is just an bad person.
He gets his money, the Lakers save money and if he can play he can sign a new contract next year.
The scenario would be different if Kobe had 2 or more years in his contract, but with only one year remaining, if he cant play, its the best option.
Like I said, it doesn't mean anything, don't know why fans would think so. In fact Kobe legacy would be even greater: He even accept the amnesty in order to help the team.
It's gross & vulgar to even broach such a subject and the Buss family would never do it. You're nuts.

Have you seen the upcoming free agents for 2013....I'd take Jarret Jack over Nash anyday....I'd take Ariza or Artest, and J-Smooth over Pau..we need some young fellas to and quality back-ups...to get Kobe to 6....Pau and Nash and expendable to me....it's all about Kobe getting 6..sorry but that's just the way it is

You literally have no idea how the salary cap works.

Bryant appeared to have been crying before meeting with reporters Friday while using crutches after the Lakers' 118-116 victory.Kupchak downplayed the prospects of the Lakers using their one-time "amnesty" provision to waive Bryant in July.
"That's not even something that we've discussed," Kupchak said. "That's the furthest thing from our mind right now."
The Lakers are allowed to cut one of four players on their roster without paying luxury taxes on his salary. Bryant will make $30.5 million next season. The other three eligible players are Pau Gasol ($19.3 million next season), Metta World Peace ($7.7 million) and Steve Blake ($4 million). Only those four players are eligible to be amnestied because they are the only players still on the roster from July 2011.
If the Lakers waived Bryant, they would save up to $80 million in luxury taxes but would still have to pay his salary.
