You have a favorite player and you like to see them get the recognition you think they deserve... there's nothing wrong with that, imho.
It's a media award. There was a time in the last few years when the DPOY didn't even make the coach-voted NBA ALL Defense first team.

Marc Gasol has cement in his sneaks. What a weak soss award that has lost all credibility.
Im trying to wrap my head around the thought process of some of these writers. Do they know what DEFENSE is?

You are actually right lol. The more of my post I wrote, I started to see there weren't many similarities at all. The only thing similar is I feel they were both good Defensive bigs on mediocre Defensive teams.
Camby didn't even guard Tim in the playoffs that season. The Nuggets had Nene guard Tim for that whole playoff series. That is a joke for a defensive player of the year, can't even guard the other teams best big man. Fair enough if Camby was a guard, but he was supposed to be a mobile big. lol, total joke of an award. Camby wasn't even that good of a defender like you're saying he is.

Bruce or Tim should have wont he award that year hands down. This season Tim should have won the award hands down.

I actually like the Grizzlies, love that they are a defense first team, but this has kind of pissed me off.

Tbh Ben Wallace deserved those DPOYs. Camby didn't, though.
Why did Ben Wallace deserve it? Because he sucked on offense and couldn't do anything else except rebound and play defense? Is that why he deserved it? Much better winner than Camby, but still didn't deserve that many of those awards IMO. The Pistons played solid defense 1 through 5, Spurs mainly relied on TD and Bruce.

The NBA coaches vote on the NBA All-Defensive Team each year. The top 5 vote-getters make the First Team. Tim Duncan holds the NBA record for the most total selections with 13.

    and boom goes the dynamite

Pretty ty that a nearly 37 year old man has better stats than the would be Defensive Player of the year which is an individual honor not a team honor and yet doesn't get the nod.. For shame.

...And the DPOY award remains dead to me. No surprise there.

Meh . . . better than Larry Sanders. I didn't think Duncan had a real shot anyway.

Duncan coming in 6th, not far behind Noah and Allen. Ibaka way too high.

At least he's probably guaranteed an all defensive nod.

I said earlier this season how disgusted I'd be if Tim didn't win DPOY. Was right. Shoulda gotten top 3 I mean come on. I don't get it.
