Why do you keep posting individual stats? We all agree he stat padded to and back.

Was all the stat-padding conductive to even make the playoffs? No (the team without him actually had to pull that off).
No "we" don't. Just Laker haters like yourself. Him taking it upon himself to get guys like Howard going, is now boiled down to stat padding. Got it.

The team without him barely won two home games to sneak into the 2nd season. How'd that team without him do? Did their defense improve in the playoffs? How about their offense?
Did it help the team meet expectations? No.
Actually it did. After all of the injuries, lack of chemistry, etc. turned our season into a trainwreck, the Finals expectations changed to merely making the playoffs (embarrassing tbh). Kobe's efforts most certainly helped get them there. To say otherwise is being disingenuous at best.
Did the team underachieved greatly considering the talent? Yes.
I agree with you here, but I'm also a realist. There were several reasons why they underachieved. These reasons are obvious so I won't delve into the details.
Was he the self-proclaimed leader of probably the most disappointing Lakers team in history? Yes.
You're funny. Is TD self-proclaimed too? They have basically the same amount of tenure (-1 rang)...It's funny because millions of people want to see the Lakers win (& vice versa). The Lakers are polarizing like that. So of course if they don't win, it's disappointing. I mean look at how many times they played in the Finals to put it into context.
Of course his legacy will take a hit.
Did 8 cause TD's legacy to come into question? Don't answer that without your miranda rights.
And stop pining on teammates. He received two likely future HoF (Nash, Howard), in addition to the likely HoF he already had (Gasol). Blake and Jamison had career-best seasons.
Although i didn't want to admit it at the time, it applies here. Your boy mid destroyed this argument. We had a 72-year old starting backcourt (neither made it through the season healthy btw). Our starting center just came off major back surgery. We just fired Mike Clown and hired Mike _antoni. The beat goes on and on. His teammates didn't performPERIOD. When he went down, they were exposed by the Spurs. So much so, that Pop called it an unfair fight (paraphrasing here).
Dude had that 'roaming' defense all season long, allowing scrubs like Ariza to look like they were Lebron. He was a turnover machine. It isn't just me saying this, you were saying the same thing as it happened.
I criticize Kobe just as much as the next guy. If his play is killing he team's chances at a W, you best believe I'll voice my displeasure. However, I never fault his efforts. He leaves it all on the floor. You might not like him, but you have to respect a player like that.

Blazers coach Terry Stotts, nearly speechless, simply took his hat off: “He was on a mission. … What can you say about a 47-point performance?”

Hornets coach Monty Williams said, "You could put Saran Wrap on Kobe and I don't know if that's going to change anything."

his mom obviously got issues...why would any good mother want to auction his stuff unless she's trying to hurt him...maybe she wanted money for a business venture and he said no...It seems that if she worked on trying to be a good mom instead of trying to force her opinions and strong personality on him she might find that he would open up to her..I think the woman is mean...

The team without him did as well as it would've done with him. 42-36 when he played wasn't a fluke. Instead of 30 point beatings it probably would've been 25 point beatings. He played 79 games and that team was still a disaster, WITH him.

Actually it did. After all of the injuries, lack of chemistry, etc. turned our season into a trainwreck, the Finals expectations changed to merely making the playoffs (embarrassing tbh). Kobe's efforts most certainly helped get them there. To say otherwise is being disingenuous at best.
I'm calling bull on this. This is the team that was going to challenge OKC in the West, according to LkrFan before game 1 of the season. This team with Kobe playing 79 games and nearly 40 minutes per game (or more), was a disgrace.

"I got a question earlier about whose team this is," Bryant told reporters at the Lakers media day Monday. "I don't want to get into the, 'Well, we share ...' No, it's my team. But I want to make sure that Dwight, when I retire, this is going to be his. I want to teach him everything I possibly know so that when I step away this organization can ride on as if I never left."

Spin that , my friend. spin, spin, spin

Did 8 cause TD's legacy to come into question? Don't answer that without your miranda rights.
Tim has yet to let his team down and make them miss the playoffs. Even though he's 37, he can still dominate alleged 'best big men' in the league, tbh.

His teammates played as hard as they could, and as I said, the talent was there. I'm not going to deny that having that clown D'Antoni isn't a major issue, especially since he doesn't have the guts to call Kirby out when he's being cancerous (and there's been many times of that this season). But that actually adds to the argument: Kobe ran that team to a pathetic 42-36 record. Fact.

I criticize Kobe just as much as the next guy. If his play is killing he team's chances at a W, you best believe I'll voice my displeasure. However, I never fault his efforts. He leaves it all on the floor. You might not like him, but you have to respect a player like that.
I'm not arguing effort. Legacy is never measured in effort. Nobody remembers "he played hard".

Here's another quote from Green after nailing the game winner over Kobe:

"He just couldn't find the man [Bryant] who was guarding me because [Bryant] was kind of roaming a little bit."

Where are the quotes from the Wizards coach? "Thankfully Mike decided to put Kobe on Ariza, that was the edge we needed to win at Staples" crofl

And FWIW, I didn't start this conversation....

Oh I dont think he should get credit for this season you are right it was a disapointment ...just disagree it hurts his legacy. by avoiding the playoff flameout the last image is of him waling to the line with the torn achilles in fact NBa.com picked it as one of the top 10 plays ...

All im saying is most folks see him as irrelevant Lakers ty season still a story but most fans, media have not blamed Achilles outside of a few advanced nerds that rightfully on his defense and haters

He should get the negative 'credit' that comes from leading a talented team to a ty record. And the rest of us that don't consume the that employs Israel Gutierrez will remember that.

The NBA lovefest with Kobe is a disgrace, and there's no better example than getting a foul called when he tore his Achilles all on his own

Nope.. this season will leave a mark. Especially since Dr Buss passed away and Jim took over, and this major turd got started. This Laker team set a few new lows when it comes to negative records. And I'm hoping both D'Antoni and Howard stay, since it would be just the beginning of some serious comedy gold, tbh

Kobe is an egotistical stat , thats a fact tbh. He doesnt know how to play a balanced game for prolonged periods, hes either going to shoot 20-25 times or get double digit assists...no in between. If the got let his assists and shots come within the flow of their offense instead of forcing everything and trying to be a hero maybe he would have an achilles right now. LeBron doesnt get his points or assists because he feels the need to will his team to a victory or because he has to take it upon himself to get Wade/Bosh involved...he gets his numbers effortlessly and within the flow of the game and unsurprisingly team success follows that.

You chose his name for a reason.

I certainly wouldn't expect him to pretend he's not going to type the word "Tim". Also, this is a thread about Kobe started by another Laker fan, and here you are defending Kobe and accusing others of discussing him while you want to "move on". You're not moving on.
That makes no sense ... (thanks DPG)
What does Achiles have to do with us getting swept?
You'd like it if he had nothing to do with the state of that team when they lose, as long as you can carry his torch when they win, wouldn't ya?
Oh wait I get this ... I forget you only been on top for a short while ...less than adecade. Let me peep you up on game.
And you've only been here as long as Pau has been a Laker. Peep up on that. Also, you legrode your way onto being a Lakers fan. It's not like you picked a long shot.
When you are clearly the better team you dont even waste time spitting on your opponent. A sweep should of been expected and nothing to celebrate.
Unless the Lakers did it, then you'd start a few threads about it. You play it off though when you get your ass handed to you even though your team spent 120 million for that stacked roster. Now you act like "meh, you beat the Wizards". Convenient but you're not getting out of it that easy. You're going to have to wear that scarlet letter for quite some time.
You move on to bigger and better things ...but since you know your team has no legit shot ..you want to bask in the glory of the sweep or bash Achilles.
Lol knowing your team is ed for at least another year because of their salary structure. lol Frankenstein squad, made of parts of dead people.
    It's deflecting. I got it.
That's it. Everything said about the team that spent the most in the league and won the premier free agent move over the summer getting not only Howard but also Steve Nash, the same team that struggled to break 500 and got swept in the 1st round by the team that "has no legit shot"... it's all deflecting. Jealousy it what it is.
Please proceed ... would hate to stand between you and your last few weeks of enjoyment ...carry on.
Of course I will, and you'll do everything in your power to defend rapist and try to distance him from this debacle but we won't let you. You're free to try though. After all, it's what fanbois do.

Didnt say that ... talk ...still doesnt changethe fact that Achilles had nothing to do with that win ...

    Spurs beat the Lakers and

In the grand scheme means about as much as the Lakers beating Spurs right before the playoffs ...
