finally someone with a good basketball take. Basketball is a game of momentums. Manu and Neal killed us
Neal is the bigger problem IMO. Guy plays terrible defense and cannot handle the ball which puts huge pressure on Ginobili to take over point guard duties. Mills is a much better ballhandler and that's why the two of them post much better on court numbers together. Pop does not recognize this, only sees that Gary can take alot of shots.. that is all he sees. Same deal with Splitter, the dumb coach took 2+ years to recognize the need for size in the starting lineup.. only saw that Tiago wasn't producing huge numbers and gave up on him until it was painfully obvious to even the most casual fans.
I fully expect Pop to stick with Neal even though:
Mills = better ballhandling, equal scorer, quicker/better defender than Neal.
CoJo = better ballhandling, much better defender, decent scorer
McGrady = better ballhandling, bigger/better defender, can chuck shots all day if that's what you want (just like Neal).
finally someone with a good basketball take. Basketball is a game of momentums. Manu and Neal killed us
I've never seen such a sudden collapse of athletic ability.
I love Manu but I can't defend him
The game was close until the end of the 3rd quarter, when Pop decided to take out Green and Leonard to put Ginobili and Neal. Two dumb TOs followed by two 3s from the Heat and they had a 10-point leading going to the 4th quarter. To me, it gave the Heat the momentum and the confidence that they needed to win the game.
Manu should try to do a few things in a simple way. He couldn't even initiate the offense without a TOs trying to dribble.
He has to play much better than this. It was one of the worst playoff game I've ever seen from Manu.
You have no option but to play Manu. You're not going to win a le without Manu doing something to help win you at least one or two games. Thats pretty much just a fact. So its not like there's a choice to be made about playing him. At this point we all have to hope that Manu has enough in the tank to give some good performances and at the LEAST he has to play well enough not to hurt the team out there.
I'm not even going to argue this. You can go ahead and pile on Manu. As I said, he had a bad game. Many Spurs did. We're going to need more from him and everyone to win at home.
The spurs had chances to put distance between them and the heat, but Manu came in and let the heat back in the game in the 3rd.
I know it's not all on one player, but man it's as close as it gets with Manu tonight.
Id be okay if Pop fined players for dribbling behind their backs
Its Manu, Neal and Greens turnover of choice
The patented Gary Neal run in the corner just to pick up his dribble is another one i could use less of
dude by saying Manu had a "bad" game you just prove yourself to be the biggest Manu homer in history
Manu had a historic horrific game. And he is the reason Heat got the momentum in the 3rd. I you cannot see that, then you need some counseling and psychological help IMO
Manu has to dribble behind his back because he has nothing else left. Dude is a mummy trying to play in the Finals.
Cute yet nonsensical. I believe you're implying I'm participating in a mind-set forumites here refer to as "cliff-jumping" which is not what I'm doing. I still think the Spurs will win in 6 or 7 but certainly not if Popovich doesn't allow himself the decisions he's been making. That's a fair point undeserving of your idiocy.
Manu was terrible on handling the ball today. The man looked like he needed to be on a cane out there. This game looked like he completely lost all of his ball handling skill. He did a decent job on Dwayne Wade but he did leave Mike Miller and Ray Allen open at times. Another thing that pissed me off about Manu was those canon ball passes that he would do after being double teamed off a pick n roll. Manu looked like an old man today.
that makes no sense... I'm telling you he had a bad game. I'm not making any excuses for him.
I'm not going to argue what 'levels of bad' or where it 'ranks on bad'. It's silly. He contributed to this loss, and so did many other Spurs.
We can keep trying to find the scapegoat, or we can just plain state what happened: our guys didn't play well, didn't defend the way that's conducive to win games against the champ.
All your piling up doesn't matter. He's an integral part and reason of why we're in the Finals in the first place. He needs to play better and so do all the other guys. Bottom line.
a bad game?
Duncan had a bad game
Manu had an epic horrific terrible game and your inability to accept that puts you in the record books as the biggest homer in history.
Still bro, Spurs in 7 I hope![]()
WTF was up with his dribbling. Looked like a stumbling drunk out there tonight. Ease up on the bars brah.
Parker and Duncan played bad too but they've carried us this season AND post-season. Ginobili's only had like four good games in the entire playoffs and has been terrible all year. 35 year old, injury-prone players shouldn't be playing international basketball in the summer.
Plenty of blame to go around to everyone except Green (did I just say that?).
Still, Manu is the one guy who has been MIA (no pun) for the majority of the playoffs.
Manu needs to play. The team won't win with him sitting on the bench. He had a terrible game but to say don't play him is really not an option.
Hater can be such a dummy a times tbh.
Ginobili was terrible tonight. Parker Was terrible tonight. Duncan was awful.
Infact anyone not named Kawhi and Danny was awful.
I don't think TMac needs to score. He just needs to help facilitate the offense when the ball is too sticky.
