face would rap circles around chamillionaire, stop it lol.
The game can evolve all it wants. Face is the Jordan(no pun intended) of Houston. No one is in the same league lyrically. You may need to go give his 90's albums another listen tbh.
face would rap circles around chamillionaire, stop it lol.
Yup you're right.. Classic album, especially 20 years ago.. I'm not denying that. I'm just saying lyricism has evolved and I don't care how great someone used to be.. If they haven't evolved with the game and can't hold their own anymore, they are no longer the greatest during this present time. Have you heard Rakims most recent music? It was barely relevant in the underground.
I listened to a bit of the Seventh Seal, but a reunion with Eric B. would def have me interested. I was 10 when Paid In Full came out, and couldn't get enough of it and still listen to it quite a bit. I will admit I am not really a fan of how the rap game evolved in the 2000s and on though. Most of the hip hop I listen to these days is DJ/turntable stuff.
The late 80's to the late 90's was the Golden Age of rap...and Rakim and Face were both gods of that era. Nothing else to be said tbh.
It was to me too - Slick Rick, EPMD, lots of em. I had to put my headphones on just now to listen to few tracks off Great Adventures of Slick Rick cause my daughter is in the next roomBut I understand it was a long time ago and there is heavy nostalgia involved.
Drake is falling off.
Trill has terrible humor and taste in music son. Whack
you gonna give me some legit reason why drake is wack or nah? im this close >< to going fkla on ya. keep it up.
From what I've listened to, I find his style boring and basic. There is nothing special about this dude. He doesn't spit about anything that matters in the world.
x100.
He's monotone, unimaginative, and just plain ty. "Started from the bottom..." could've been done by an autistic 4th grader. It's pre-packaged canadian rap
Terribly basic. Corny. Fake studio gangsta type. Nothing ground breaking, uplifting, important or creative.
If you feeling froggy jump, flower.
The scene 20 years ago s all over today's scene though.....
- Gay-ass girly singing voice that sounds like nails on a chalkboard
- gy topics for his tracks, usually demonstrating how pussywhipped he is or desperately trying to act like he came from "the hood"
- Corny wordplay
Drake isn't hip-hop, he's the black Taylor Swift, tbh....
Indeed it does...
and just for good measure...
Damn, the congregation has spoken: Drake and those who hype him are whack![]()
And for the record...I'd put prime Eightball & MJG up against anyone.
well fellas, i disagree and agree on a few points. his singing i admit is mediocre at best but most rappers since around 2000 sing on their hooks(ja rule, 50cent, big krit, future, etc) thanks to autotune and other studio tricks, its saved the artist a lot of money and the money they used to spend on having a r&b singer on the hook can go to elsewhere.
sorry to break it to y'all but his target audience is women. he's a genius at writing catchy songs with memorable melodies and the radio eats every.single.song.up. lol. you can't deny his pen game, even stevie wonder applauded him for his song writing skills. when you have a success at something, you would be a fool to abandon what got you there.
to clippernation, as far as wordplay goes, he never said he was the best lyricist or had slick wordplay like jay-z, not every rapper has to be a lyricist, but to be successful in any genre of music, you must be able to craft timeless music and that is what drake does. the reason he gets so much hate is because he's everywhere. i don't know if y'all actually listen to his entire body of work or just the radio singles but he switches his flow up on every album, the only thing that stays the same is the singing and production.
Timeless
Now we know you are trolling. And if his target is women, why you so infatuated?
Since when is Drake "timeless"? His tracks suck in THIS time, just imagine how bad they'll sound 20 years from now....
i just appreciate good music period, i can seperate the artist from the art, ya dig?
ja rule was exposed for being a wanksta by 50cent, but ja rule still put out good music.
dr. dre was exposed for wearing glitter, a leo and lip gloss, but he is still a great producer and has hit songs and gave us snoop dogg, eminem, 50cent, nate dogg, warren g, etc.
ice cube was exposed for having a weird name and going to a good school, but he put out good music.
Btw, if you want to sing AND rap, you have to be good at both or it just doesn't work.... Mos Def, Phonte, and k-os come to mind as rappers who can pull it off, tbh....
they suck to YOU but majority of the world disagrees. people are buying his albums at a one of the weakest periods of record sells and musical legends gave him their co-sign.
it dooooess work.
8ball & mjg are my 2nd fav rap duo behind UGK.
