In a heartbeat. ..
Some of us have finals ecstasy. Coming into last year, Green was a dime-a-dozen player. He is basically a spot up jump shooter with terrible handles, and the inability to finish at the rim. His improved defense is a huge plus but, that doesn't make him untouchable. FYI, Green is three years older than Shumpert and that begs me to ask you the question.... What was Green doing at age 23? He's basically maxed out his potential and I'm not sure there's much more he can improve upon.
Shumpert, on the other hand has a lot more upside than Green. He's still a raw specimen with elite defensive ability and an improved jump shot. For a guy who hasn't even played a full season in the NBA, I find it peculiar that you think he doesn't have the tools to get better defensively. The Knicks obviously disagree since he too, has played multiple positions and has guarded the likes of Wade, Bryant and Rose.
If the Spurs proposed a Green for Shumpert swap, Steve Mills would just hang up the phone on Buford. Green might have a slight edge in terms of overall game mostly due to Shumpert's inconsistencies on the offensive end, but it's only a matter of time before he puts it together.
I also think its worth noting that Green is a product of the system. If you take away the system, he wouldn't be nearly as effective.
Oh, and yeah, rebuilding for a better tomorrow, I definitely would make a Green/Shumpert swap.

^ Thank you for not being so simple-minded. Green can shoot the three well, but Shumpert definitely has a brighter future if you ask me. If the system and Pop stays, Green can be a star in SA. But in NY, not so much.

I agree that Green for Shumpert is basically even money in terms of talent. I still think green's a better fit for the spurs right now, but nobody doubts Shump's defensive potential.
But OP wasn't asking about Green for Shump. He was asking about Diaw and Green for Shump. That's re ed.
OP, you're heavily overvaluing Shumpert's talent level. Shumpert can handle the ball better than Green, but is basically worse in every other way. Shumpert is overrated because he plays in New York. Look how mediocre Landry Fields ended up after they were blowing him as the steal of the draft. . .then he got worse every year. Or Jeremy Lin, the most overrated player in a LONG time.
Green at this point is a sure thing to give you what he's already given you, and there's still the decent chance he'll improve and become a bit sharper. Shumpert at this point would HAVE to improve just to become even with what Green already does overall. Green for Shumpert period doesn't make sense. When you add in Diaw it becomes a laughably one-sided trade.
This is almost the exact thought that came to mind when I read the le.
Throw in Tyson Chandler and we have a deal
Just for the record I myself didn't bash you.
Perhaps a guy like Chip can work wonders with him... my response was more of a "would I make this trade now" type scenario. Had the Spurs won the le, Duncan and Ginobili decided to retire, etc., it's something I would have considered (selling high on Green and go with the 'upside' guy if the staff sees it). But for now, Green and Diaw are better pieces in the system. The way I look at it ... who do I want on the roster down the stretch in a playoff game? The guy who forces a defender to play on him on the three point line who can defend the other team's better guard.
I've seen a lot of Knicks games (living in NY) and think the guy has some raw talent, but is overrated by Knicks faithful. We'll see where he is fully healed from his injury.
Can we just trade their hair styles..love dat flat top doe!
Yes, Green and Diaw are both right for the System. I'm not sure either would be nearly as successful outside the system. In regards to Shumpert, I see him as a potential cross between Avery Bradley and Paul George. Sure, he's a project now, but his ceiling and youth makes him a valuable commodity for the future. I'm not sure if I would let Diaw and/or Green be a potential stumbling block in this hypothetical scenario.
Fans do have a tendency to overrate their players. Every fan base does it. I live in Buffalo so I get the Knick games here too. The only thing I question about his game that makes me the slightest bit hesitant, is his at ude. If he does develop into the player many are projecting, he might flea the Smaller market for a larger one.

you do realize you're calling me a got, yet your doing so by showing a gif of a tv show made for adolescent girls. Good one lol
How did you know that?
Shump is the usual overrated Knick, as I said 2 years ago, tbh..
Knicks fans did the same with Channing Frye and Landry Fields, they do it with every role player that shows flashes early in their career..I lived in NY half my life, I've been watching Knicks fans/media overrate their own players since I began following the NBA..
His defense has taken a hit, too, now that he believes he's an offensive creator and focusing less on defense..
your country
Shump for Green........ And Diaw

Bonner for Hibbert... in my dreams
