No, Trill. I'll admit prejudice there…that would be a no-no. I've been in a couple of these relationships (not biracial), and it's hard to look at someone else's kids as anything other than expensive pets--but to be fair, both those relationships were very short and one of them it was understood that it's just another warm body hookup tbh

Trill, while I'm sure you will do fine as a father, stop thinking that way. I thought the exact same way, "I'm around my nephews and nieces all the time and I seem to do fine with them, so parenting is probably pretty easy and I will do well at that too".
Seriously, I thought the exact same thing. I'm now 18 months into parenthood and is so much harder than I thought it would be. Being an Uncle doesn't come within a millionth as what it is to being a father.

i understand that and as much as i love my nieces and nephews, i can only deal with them for so long before i'm tired and send em back to their parents. i get that being a parent its a tough job and i'm not trying to compare the two. what i mean is, i have some experience dealing with children you genuinely love and care for, so the transition of being a parent wont be as hard for me as someone without that same experience.

Being a Dad sucks.......I mean, they're cute and all and they look like you and that's cool I suppose, but they're such a pain in the ass. It's a tough slope to climb--my ex had a daughter and it was a ton of work to make the relationship work at the time. It was weird when there was drama between the ex and her baby daddy but the anger sex always seemed to make up for it in the end.

Hard to answer since I was never confronted with that choice. Actually at this point in time the whole concept of dating seems kind of alien.

I agree...it's definitely more difficult for a woman with kids to find a man than it is for a man with kids to find a woman. The man with kids normally doesn't have full custody and the kid can slowly be worked into the relationship with the new woman without having to watch dad and stepmom go through the natural husband/wife process of learning each other for the first few years.
Honestly, my situation is pretty atypical. Our families already knew each other a little through mutual friends so my wife knew my parents/siblings were all good people(as did I with her family). Also, my daughters mom and I get along very well and are like minded on almost every issue surrounding her(one of those "we work much better together when we are not together" relationships). She had zero problems with my wife from the jump and she discovered pretty early on that my wife had no intentions of trying to replace her as mom...she was simply a third partner in the parenting equation. Lastly, my child has always been very respectful and well behaved. No lashing out or playing parent against parent or anything like that.
Even with all the great chemistry and the situation lining up well, I still waited a full year before marrying her. I would recommend at least this long...perhaps even longer...to anyone else thinking about settling down with someone with kids from a previous relationship as well.
