What's amusing about this is Manu won the gold that year. So a Spur wins gold and a Spur wins bronze. What's the problem? What did the Lakers players win?
^ my point is your best chance at seeing 17 is through Bean getting 6..the next two yrs should be your focus....once Kobe's done we're done for at least 10 yrs...it will take time to conform to the new CBA...we need to go balls out, in, deep, or whatever these next 2 yrs...why yall can't see it is baffling to me...

ohh come on...winning bronze is like your daughter bringing a black dude home for x-mas....![]()
- "Every chamber filled!"
If Melo goes to the Lakers, the championship will be even farther out of reach.
But, if he brings a 17th & the 6th (for purposes of this place) then Kool will have made the greatest call in NBA Forum history if not American Sports History.
Cedric
How was losing the 2004 Finals that same year?
You're a ing idiot.
DMC Crying:
Kobe can't even promise a 1st round exit much less a championship.
all he wants to hear is that Kobe hasn't given up...why do you guys not have the perceptive ability to read between the lines...once again I'm baffled by the level of naivete, gullibility, and lack of general / basic understanding by the ST masses
O & 77!
LOL ESPN ...
LOL "previews"
Blazers know a thing or two, or three or four about a 1st round exit ...
LOL "media"
"But as Cully said the media by and large have given Duncan and Pop a pass for their failings last June." -You
Send me 50 dollars and I'll splain it to you.
A preview of a NBA season and reporting a story that happened after the fact are entirely two different things.
As much as most of the are low-rent hacks, I find ESPN (especially Grantland) and CNN/SI reporting on sporting events to be fair to quite good. Predicting how a season will play out unless you choose the favorites is something else.
And It's not that I care that the media went after Pop or Tim I like them both. It's almost as if they know how grave "6" was and are having mercy on their poor souls. the SI piece I posted was not mean spirited... in fact, you could almost feel the sympathy dripping from the pages. That is why I brought up the Pats. If the Cowboys, Falcons or Lions had lost a SB the way Brady did his past few tries ... heck even if Peyton lost the last two SB's his one breakthrough would of been considered a fluke. Or to use hoops as that same article pointed out, Lebron as great as he is, would of been skewered for a finals loss SPo would be on a hotseat yet Pop and Tim got a pass ...that is the point. the media's "value" is irrelevant.
The bigger point is once a narrative is written ..it's hard to change.
Tim is clutch.
Pop is a great coach.
Brady is clutch.
Bill is amazing.
Bill B choked.
Tom Brady choked twice ...
Lebron is clutch.
Lebron is clutch .
Kobe is not clutch
Kobe is clutch.
"6"
All are true at some point yet the media drives the story they want to stick ... which is why I have such disdain for MVP awards ... Lebron winning has restored some "faith" but the award has been crap since the tail end of Mj's prime ...
just because they get it right every blue moon, doesnt make the award any less ty ...

Maybe you don't understand what "failure" means. Failure means you didn't meet expectations. I showed you that the Lakers were expected to win the WCF (and the Finals by some). I didn't see the Spurs in there anywhere. That means the Spurs didn't fail to meet expectations.
If you buy 100 shares of Dell and you expect it to double, and it triples but you sell before it doubles again, did you fail?
The media's value is only irrelevant if it suits you. It's more valuable than your assessment that a 7 game Finals series loss is worse than getting your plowed thoroughly all ing season capped off by the most dominant series ever over the Lakers. That's the same Lakers team that was expected to be in the Finals.
So... what are you yapping about again?
Losing in the play-offs with a Kobe-less squad is considered a noble death...losing in the finals with a "stacked" team after you had it WON...and LITERALLY giving the le back to the guy you defeated all because you had to go take a should be punishable by firing squad tbh
I get expectations.
I also never said that the spurs did not accomplish more than last year's Lakers ...(great measuring stick btw)
My point is that "6" will remain while the sweep is long forgotten. It it consoles you that is fine ...do whatever you need to do better about that sick feeling in your stomach you will get everytime they replay that ...
Teams overcome expectations all the time. Teams fail to meet them just as often. We failed miserably I though we were a wCF (not a Finalist) team ...
None of that changes what happened in "6". The more you lash out the more I know it hurts. Not only did my team suck last year we are worse this year. Our future looks a bit sketchy and at least you can watch duncan play this year while I have to watch Kobe sit in Armani suits along with our PG rotation ...
Does ANY of that make YOU feel better? I'll be honest I hope so. Because none of that did ANYTHING for me in 1985 ....
You were getting your pushed in with Kobe, Howard, Nash, Gasol and Artest in the lineup.
Who are you kidding?
lol Noble death to get swept game slider style at home, yet a "failure" for an old team who goes the distance against the defending champs in the Finals. Are you really this intellectually dishonest IRL?
And if you want crappy analogies "6" is more like
1. Like busting a early nut while waiting for Paula patton or Scar Jo and you cant get it back up ...
2. Like hitting the winning lotto numbers but losing the ticket ...
3. having tickets to the SB, Final four or World Cup and getting stuck in traffic or missing your flight ...
I could go on but who cares ... do what you have to do DMC, because I am worried about your well being I think if you have kids or pets they would probably have bruises from misplaced anger so if bashing Kobe and the lakers help ...by all means.
Well aren't the Lakers your team? If not, please correct me. Your username and team affiliation has misled me.
Here's how it works: If your team beat mine, talk mad . If your team got swept the out, you cannot talk any . You cannot use injury as an excuse when it occurred so late in the season. You cannot use any excuses and you cannot just dismiss the loss as insignificant. It was an historical blowout at Staples Center. You need to come to grips with that. So far the large majority of you Lakers fans have refused to acknowledge it because "Kobe wasn't playing". Are you the LA Lakers or the LA Kobes?
