    Sick and tired of hearing/reading about sexuality. I really do wish some college football player made it very clear...."yep, I suck "....before the draft and watch how that works. Then when some team does finally draft him the way he is treated. And don't be stupid, of course you'll hear..."couldn't care less, no big deal"......what else can they say?

    Happy to see somebody making things clear.

    Absolutely. Just let them have their day, their Olympics. Christ, we couldn't even put on a Boston Marathon without having it blown up. We've nary room.
    Wasn't there also some sort of bomb related incident when we had a summer Olympics here, I think in Atlanta? Nary room indeed.

    think about it

    blue ring = blue eyes

    yellow ring = yellow skin

    black ring = black skin

    red ring = red skin

    green = ....lol nothing because only abos were there tbh
    link: THIS GREAT SYMBOL
    6. Revue Olympique, August 1913. English
    translation: “Furthermore, the six colours (including
    the flag’s white background) thus combined
    reproduce the colours of all the nations,
    with no exception. The blue and yellow of
    Sweden, the blue and white of Greece, the tricolours
    of France, England and America, Germany,
    Belgium, Italy, Hungary, the yellow and
    red of Spain next to the novelties of Brazil or
    Australia, with old Japan and new China. Here
    is truly an international symbol.” Parenthesis
    mine. Notably absent from the Baron’s list of
    countries are any from the continent of Africa,
    further proof for the fact that Coubertin’s “colour
    inspiration” was derived from national flag hues,
    rather than from continents and their respective
    racial connotations.

    Good today with biathalon and ski jump. Winter Olympics are pretty awesome other than figure skating and the super gay version: ice dancing.

    The difference between someone who doesn't have a college degree and someone else who has it is the college graduate wouldn't simply assume what wikipedia or anyone else says as golden truth. what you quoted is perhaps the official clarification of the meaning of the Olympic symbol, while in many countries it's generally believed that each of the five rings standard for a continent (the red ring standing for North and South Americas as a whole). Of course the plot was aimed at US (since people usually refer to the US simply as America), with Canada and Latin American countries bearing the collateral damages.

    Can you back that up, and if so, why aren't there 6 rings?

    According to most accounts, the rings were adopted by Baron Pierre de Coubertin (founder of the modern Olympic Movement) in 1913 after he saw a similar design on an artifact from ancient Greece. The five rings represent the five major regions of the world: Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Every national flag in the world includes at least one of the five colors, which are (from left to right) blue, yellow, black, green, and red. It is important to emphasize that Pierre de Coubertin never said nor wrote that the colors of the rings were linked with the different continents
    Coubertin didn't clarify which region each ring represents but it's obvious enough, imho

    http://www.cbv.ns.ca/MCHS/Greece/FAQ9.html
    The color of the rings were chosen by the International Olympic Committee (I.O.C) to represent the union of the 5 continents Australia, Africa, America, Asia & Europe.
    The white backround symbolizes peace thoughout the games.
    The five colors from left to right are Blue, Black, Red across the top with yellow and green along the bottom. These colors are found on most flags of the world, and hold no other particular signifiance.
    Blue= Europe
    Yellow= Asia
    Green= Australia
    Red= America
    Black= Africa

    I know. I've seen that. However, that is not the verifiable fact.

    I give you this:

    What do the Olympic rings signify?

    According to most accounts, the rings were adopted by Baron Pierre de Coubertin (founder of the modern Olympic Movement) in 1913 after he saw a similar design on an artifact from ancient Greece. The five rings represent the five major regions of the world: Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. It is important to emphasize that Pierre de Coubertin never said nor wrote that the colors of the rings were linked with the different continents

    The Olympic Flag made its debut at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp, Belgium. At the end of each Olympic Games, the mayor of that host-city presents the flag to the mayor of the next host-city. It then rests at the town hall of the next host-city for four years until the Opening Ceremony of their Olympic Games.
    That along with my previous post saying they are linked to flags should dispel this revisionist history. This source agrees with the world region idea, but does factually point out it was never stated to be.

    Lets see what the Olympic web site says:

    The rings
    Meaning of the five rings and flag — History of the rings and flag
    suggested by Pierre de Coubertin in 1914 — Actual use of the rings
    and flag in emblems.

    it doesn't matter what the official voice says imho. There does exist such a prevalent belief that each ring of the Olympic symbol represents a continent, and that's enough of a reason for those Russian s to play such an unfunny joke imho. Some people just never learn how to use their brains, they just believe whatever the teacher preaches. It may work fine in primary education and secondary education but college students don't learn knowledge that way (sure you don't know it...)
